“Quick stopover ”

Well located hotel in the old town overlooking the water and walking distance to sights and good restaurants. Easy access and car parking available. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Pleased we stopped at Zadar and would stay longer than 1 night next time. Very scenic.

What a lovely place! The Heritage Hotel Bastion is conveniently located in the historical city, a few meters from the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun. The rooms have ocean view, so you can always enjoy the atmosphere. Rooms are comfortable, and the staff very cordial. In fact, I highlight the cortesy of the staff, when they attended a personal request with no charge, when I could be charged for such. Breakfast is simple, but sufficient. If I come back to Zadar, I certainly know where to stay.

I found Zadar as a destination from the Sunday news papers. What a wonderful town . We spent two nights at Hotel Bastion and where very impressed with it. Its a lovely building on the harbour wall. We had a partial view of the Harbour The room was immaculate and very comfortable from every aspect and exactly as described, The staff were brilliant. We arrived early and our room was ready. They kept the car for us on a hardstanding area with CCTV and I wasn't remotely worried about. We ate in the dining room the first evening and were not disappointed, Fab views across the harbour. My only criticism was the location of breakfast. It was in a windowless room, however brightly lit, it was a tremendous shame they didn't use the outside terrace or the dining room with the harbour views Definitely missing a trick there guys ! Not only would it have been far nicer for the us as guest it would shown all the passers by a lively buzzy hotel . What better advert ? But that aside I thoroughly recommend Hotel Bastion

“NOT a Relais et Chateaux.....”

We spent only one night in Zadar at Hotel Bastion, on our way from Plitvice NP to the Istrian Peninsula. The location is a good one, with easy access to the Riva and Old Town (what's left of it post-WWII). When we checked in, the desk staff made no offer to help with our bags or show us to our room, which has NEVER happened to us at a Relais et Chateaux hotel. Our room was reasonably well-appointed, but the mattress was poor quality and the selection of in-room tea/coffee was cheap stuff that was not particularly tasty. The staff wasn't particularly helpful, which is probably a function of poor training. Breakfast was fine, but not nearly as nice as at other Croatian hotels where we stayed. Again, the overall quality of the offerings was low-- soft croissants that weren't very flaky, tasteless omelet, etc. The hotel is fine, just nothing to write home about.
