Riu Palace Punta Cana was amazing!! I had excellent service and the staff was very kind!! I held my wedding ceremony there and had the best service with the wedding planner, catering, and photo studio. My husband and I would love to go back again!

Just returned from 10 day trip and felt the need to write this review. This was our 3rd time to this resort. First for the pros-when we arrived at the buffet for the first time, they remembered us from our prior trips. Biembo and Antonio were the best and made us feel welcomed. We ate at the buffet every morning and night with them. The food was very good and always found something delicious. The resorts in general was nice which is why we decided to make this our vacation for the third time. Now for some things not so nice. With the resort only having 2 elevators, it was notso pleasant to have the middle elevator out of service all week and your room on the 3rd floor. Not sure why it wasn’t fixed. We also thought that the resort was not kept as clean as prior stays and not seeing enough workers cleaning made it clear as to why it looked less than before. During our stay it had rained and there was no one to wipe down the seats after it stopped raining so you could sit. Even the bathroom had no paper towels for us to use so that we could sit and enjoy the courtyard. Our room was kept clean, however all the outlets did not work. We had 2 iPads and 2 iPhones which had to charge in the bathroom because that was the only outlets that worked. Just a suggestion to the Riu-the nightly show should start earlier. The show started after 9:30. So for those who are up early (and there were many) having to sit through Riuland and a game show was got boring. Also the beach and pool loungers could use some updating. Many were broken. And for a final thought, I am not not sure who is responsible for the beach itself. The rain had brought in a lot of seaweed. I know that cannot be helped but it should be cleaned up. Having stayed in other Riu’s, we had always witnessed it being cleaned up a lot better. I would definitely go again.

Resort itself was gorgeous and on paper the amenities were great but the execution was not quite there. We had to move rooms as we had paid a bit extra for a better view but our first room was on the ground room with a view of nothing but the backside of a building under construction. We had to wait until the next day for another room to become available and pack all of our things up again. Both of our rooms and many of the others in our travel group had flushing issues with the toilet. Toilets would have to be flushed 5 or 6 times just for a few squares of toilet paper and we tried to use the lobby bathroom as much as possibly to avoid this. The beach itself was lovely but unfortunately it was nearly impossible to find somewhere to sit as most chairs are claimed by people clipping their towels to them first thing in the morning. I think the resort could do more to mitigate this issue. Food was a mixed bag, there were some enjoyable items on the menu but most of the food was cafeteria style and quality and while there were a few themed restaurants which had higher quality offerings several of them were inaccessible for anyone adhering to a vegetarian diet. The air conditioning in our room was great and all of the staff were friendly for the most part.
