The Hotel du Palais Biarritz feels like a palace where you will be treated like royalty. The hotel itself is magnificent. It is a former palace for Emperor Napoleon Iii and his wife Eugenia, but it has been modernized and maintained so it does not feel stuffy. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds and well appointed baths with walk in shower and separate bathtub. Our room had French doors which opened onto a balcony overlooking the main plage (beach). The staff, especially in the dinning room, was attentive and friendly. You could not ask for a nicer or better hotel to spend a special occasion. Lastly, the hotel’s location is perfect, right on the beach and within easy walking distance of shopping, the sights and the main part of town. What a wonderful time we had.

We had a great family holiday. I only wish they would be more affordable options for kids food on room service. 60 euros for 3 bowls of pasta is a bit steep but apart from that, everything has been perfect.

Great 5* hotel in excellent position. Good staff. We were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary. The dining options are all based in the large panoramique lounge. The first third is part bar, part coffee lounge, part meeting place; the next third the Cote Maison restaurant, the third nearest the window the Michel Star restaurant. The result is rather large, armophous atmosphere. With children running around in the first third the fine dining experiences of the two restaurants are rather diminished. If, like me, you are allergic to fish and seafood the Michelin Star resturant does not offer enough choice so we chose to book a table in the Cote Maison. Depite booking days ahead and asking for a "good table" we were shown to the "worst" table. We were moved, but not a great start to our celebration. Again a small menu, for the main course we choose chicken. What arrived was a piece of chicken fillet with basically mushroom soup and mushrooms. No vegetables, no salad, no potatoes, rice or pasta. Half a meal! (The table next to us had the Tournedos Rossini and that's all they got, a tournedo of beef in the centre of an empty plate. My chicken was nearly cold. I sent it back and my wife eat on alone. When it came back after 10 minutes instead of having prepared a fresh meal, it was reheated. My wife finished her meal by now. My chicken was not the fresh, juice tender delight that the menu promised but a rather tough tatesless lump. We complained and the bill was reduced. At reception on check out I repeated our disppointing experience and was comped another dinner if I ever went back. The Staff were professionally very good, but the Anniversary dinner was spoilt. Food like that should never come out of a 5* hotel kitchen. But more importantly who in Hyatt F&B considers that serving a half course of a plate with only meat and sauce constitutes a 5* fine dining experience with a balanced dietary intake?
