We had a very enjoyable stay at this modern hotel with beautiful views. The accommodation is excellent, offering great facilities. We were room only and booked a sea view apartment which had amazing views. The balcony was huge with a table and 3 chairs. There was a small separate kitchen dining area which had a 3rd bed, which we didn't need. The cooking facilities were good enough for our needs as we only made breakfast, eating out the rest of the time. The bathroom was very good, with superb water pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water. Cleaning staff did a great job, though the timing was very varied. We used the pool bar twice. It was still a quiet time of year, so there wasn't much ambience, but we enjoyed the music. Even though it was still out of season and a lot of places hadn't opened, we found some great places for food and drink, and Gevsi became our favourite place to eat. I would highly recommend these apartments for couples and families alike.

“Steep hill access”

Asturias is set on the hill down from the Piskopiano/Koutouloufari road - access is by a lot of steps down to the reception, pool and bar. Asturias is set on the hill down from the Piskopiano/Koutouloufari road - access is by a lot of steps down to the reception, pool and bar. Alternative access is by a steep hill along the road, and this means the majority of rooms have stairs. This is fine for younger customers but can be hard work for elderly, disabilities and wheelchair users. Some rooms, more Studios, are small and dated, so upgraded to a bedroom apartment with sea view nearer the top area, with a good shower instead of the tiny corner ones with a clinging curtain (I had a studio for checkout day) Pool area had plenty of loungers though this was during October- during school holidays I can envision it being very crowded. Although the bar had a nice selection of snacks, drinks and cocktails, these weren’t cheap. Very friendly and helpful reception staff made it a quiet and relaxing two week stay.

“Not the quiet break we wanted ”

Booked a 1 bedroom apartment for 10 nights. Wasn't put off by the 60 steps from Reception up to the Restaurant/village of Koufouloutari. We were put off by noise & late night parties by German youths. Reported it to the manager, who tried to deal with it. He offered us another apartment. Maria the receptionist informed us that they were checking out the same day, so we stayed in the apartment. In our second week we had noisy Canadians/Americans next door. Again we reported it. They were checking out the same day. For some reason the hotel lets people in for just a few nights. I know it was the start of the season, but a few people's holidays were spoiled. Breakfasts were good, plenty of choice whether a meat eater or veggie, (remember the days of a Bun & jam and a coffee). They are long gone! Staff friendly and helpful, & the room was cleaned daily. A good, free shuttle bus down to Hersonissos & back, 3 times a day. We opted for half board. If we ever returned to this hotel it would only be B&B.

“OK but would not return”

Booked this holiday via Jet2 whose photo of the swimming pool exaggerates its true size and who do not quote room sizes (unlike Booking.com). We paid for a maisonette which cost more than a studio or a one bedroom apartment but turns out the one bedroom apartment is more or less the same size and makes more efficient use of the space (maisonettes are on 2 floors so you lose some space because of the staircase). Our maisonette reminded us of Centre Parks but not up to the same quality, insufficient space and poorly designed (only 1 cupboard and no drawers so we have to live out of our suitcases). Shower has no door so flooding of small bathroom more or less inevitable each time you use the shower. They supplied a large blue plastic bowl next to the shower but that has minimal practical effect. Kitchenette is very small. No draining board and entire workspace taken up by kettle, toaster and 2 hob grill. Dining table and balcony table are both so small there is no room for anything beyond 2 plates and glasses/mugs (maisonettes appear to be marketed as for up to 3 people but not enough living space for 2 people let alone a 3rd person). The dining area where the table is located is not an attractive area for eating anyway . Overall the maisonette is not good value and the very real sense of being squeezed into far too small a living space contradicts the supposed 4 star designation of the resort. I’m not sure I would describe the bar and restaurant areas as 4 star but they are certainly superior to the accommodation. We have decided that for at least part of the rest of our holiday we are going to go and stay at a hotel elsewhere to get away from the cramped feeling you get if you spend much time here. That decision speaks for itself as regards our experience of the accommodation.For those who don’t hire a car to get around, it’s quite a distance (in terms of walking) to get to the nearest beach. Jet2 claim the distance is 1.5 km but it is in fact nearer to 1.5 miles and that would involve walking along some fairly busy roads. According to Google, it’s about seven minutes drive in a car. We haven’t eaten here partly because the restaurants and the bar area are not exactly atmospheric (just modern decor with no particular character) but we have the impression that not many other people living here are eating on site in the restaurant or bar area either. The good news - there are some reasonable supermarkets fairly close by so you can easily do your own breakfasts and there are plenty of local restaurants to choose from, including ones at sensible prices.
