As I write this review, I'm in the hotel room on my last night.(early flight tomorrow)!..where to start..staff beyond excellent, cannot help you enough, so accommodating and friendly!..rooms we are room 302, twin, and what a view...small balcony but enough for me and the sis in law to sit and stare at our fantastic sea view while drinking!! Traffic noise..not an issue, shut the doors at night nothing..we actually found the traffic amusing to watch during the day, certainly different rules to GB!..We went half board, food great..a set menu but can't fault it..there is also another menu, you pay extra for, but to be honest worth it. We had a full day of trips Amalfi etc and a few drinks! Next day ordered room service for lunch (from the extra menu)..did not disappoint..was excellent and again staff faultless..the walk to Sorrento is busy and no walkway for a short distance but to be honest as much as the driving seems different to GB, they know you are there, we walked to Masa Lubrense which is approximately 4.5 miles each way on the road no issues! ..close enough to the heart of Sorrento but tucked away..Overall the hotel in the reception area, reception toilets, dining, bar and rooms absolutely spotless, credit to the cleaning staff..in short can't fault the hotel and def a massive credit to all the staff..absolutely faultless..

“A fantastic stay at Hotel Metropole Sorrento”

Just returned from a week staying at the Hotel Metropole Sorrento with Jet2 Holidays. I can't recommend this hotel enough. The staff from all departments (reception, restaurant, reception, cleaning, bar etc) were all attentive and very friendly. They made you feel extremely welcome. The restaurant team took care of our special dietary requirements (vegetarian) and provided a number of choices at each evening meal. It was well worth taking the half board option. The food was delicious. The hotel was spotlessly clean. The reception staff offered advise on things to do in the area and always greeted you when you walked by. The outside space including the terraces and swimming pool gave great views of the bay and Vesuvius. The bar service in this area was great too! We had a great room (212) with fabulous views of the bay and Vesuvius from our balcony. Before we arrived we were a little concerned over the comments about the busy road and the walk into Sorrento. Yes, it is a busy road with no pavement for a short part of the walk however, this wasn't a problem as vehicles gave enough room for you to walk. You just need to watch and take time crossing the road outside of the hotel during the morning and evening rush hour! We didn't have an issue with road noise. The double glazing was great and we didn't hear a thing. We will back back. Thanks to all the staff at the hotel. You are a fantastic team.

Me and my boyfriend booked through Jet2 & stayed here for a week in June 2023 (my review is very long overdue). We originally booked a superior room with a sea view, however upon arrival the hotel had very kindly upgraded us to a Junior Suite (room 307). The room was located on the top floor on the end right of the hotel. The room was beautiful, and had recently been renovated. We had a front and back balcony, the room itself was very spacious with lots of wardrobe space - a closet on either side of the room. There is a flat screen TV, we linked our phones to the TV to watch Netflix. There is a safety deposit box (free) and also a mini fridge- we just put our own drinks in here, but you can pay for the drinks stocked in the fridge too. There is a kettle and tea and coffee facilities in the room also. The hotel and room were spotless- the room was made up every day. The bathroom was also lovely with a walk in shower. They have hair dryers on the wall- I didn’t bring my own. Breakfast had good variety- pancakes, toast, pastries, cakes, fresh fruits, cereal, juices & also scrambled eggs & sausages. The staff at breakfast are lovely and made us cappuccino’s every morning. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the hotel so can’t comment on this. There is a family run restaurant next door to the hotel which I think is very reasonably priced compared to some of the restaurants in the very centre of Sorrento and is equally as nice. We had dinner here twice because really enjoyed it- the desserts are delicious, especially the tiramisu! We didn’t book here we just turned up, but we did book some restaurants in the Centre of Sorrento on an evening, I did this before we flew and our favourites were: Ristorante S’Antonio Pizzeria, L’Abate, Enjoy the Little Things Bistro. The pool area is also lovely, plenty of sun beds & you can order drinks and settle the bill when you check out. The walk from the hotel to Sorrento Centre is about 15/20 minutes. There is no path for about 5 minutes on the walk from the hotel to the centre, which appears intimidating but isn’t as scary as it looks- I managed fine and I was very nervous about this. The cars and bikes leave you plenty of room and after a few minutes the rest of the walk is on a path, so this didn’t put us off the location of the hotel at all. You can easily get the bus to and from the centre if preferred, I believe you buy tickets from reception and the bus times are stated on the hotel website / can ask reception but we didn’t use the bus service as we thought the walk was OK. It might be a bit of a struggle getting up the hill to the hotel if you have mobility issues. I cannot fault this hotel at all, we had a really lovely holiday and we have actually booked to stay here again next year for a week and are so excited to go back. This time we have booked half board. We did also take the ferry to Positano & Capri and do day trips here. We bought our ferry tickets a few days in advance down near the port, which we got to by walking to the centre / square and then walking down the steps to the bottom. I would recommend the day trips if it’s something you’re interested in doing- we loved Positano. All I would say is be very wary of taking a large suitcase, maybe mix your belongings up between two cases if you are taking them, or like I wish I had done- Take a mini suitcase / hand luggage on the plane!!!! My suitcase did not arrive back at our UK airport and I had to fill in a PIR form, my case was declared lost after two months and I had to process an insurance claim. When you arrive at Naples airport there is unclaimed luggage everywhere, I have never seen so many lost suitcases in my life- this is obviously nothing to do with the hotel & didn’t ruin my holiday, but just to make people aware the airport isn’t the best and lots of people seem to have a similar experience when flying to Naples and Jet2 were quite unhelpful about this.

“Wonderful stay and staff”

Wonderful staff and service, only three star but nothing was too much trouble. We felt valued and special. Lovely pool area and rooms. Slight walk into the centre some on a main room but otherwise no complaints. Would recommend and stay again. Angela and Pam
