Very friendly, well trained and helpful staff, a beautiful and very well kept hotel, excellent amenities, phenomenal food, comfortable room and perfect location. I highly recommend this hotel for families with young children. It was a wonderful experience.

I went for a treatment at the SPA Ayurveda and the ladies were super kind with me from the reception to the therapist. I went for a back and neck massage of 30min and it was extremely relieving. Just what I needed on a Friday. Thank you for having me, I will be back :)

Alas, I had high hopes for our 3- night stay in A Jr. Suite overlooking the pool based on our previous stays at 2 beautiful Kempinski hotels while traveling last year in Egypt and Jordan. Like those hotels, this one was built around a lavish pool complex and featured an amazing spa with indoor pool, steam room and much more. Also like our experience with the other properties there were several nice restaurants and bars on site plus plenty of free parking (a scarcity in Gozo for sure). Several locals had talked up the place prior to our arrival noting a recently completed refurbishment along with the Kempinski management agreement. Our suite, 415 was quite large with a small balcony overlooking the pool area and a separate sitting room with couch. The marble bathroom was updated and spacious and there were even power ports next to the bed. So why only 3-1/2 stars?? In short-sleep quality-after all isn’t that really the most fundamental requirement, especially for a hotel in this price category? Luckily I travel with foam ear plugs as the wing we were in had little sound insulation. Voices in the hallway were easily heard as were flushing toilets, showers, and TVs in nearby rooms. Slamming of the heavy doors was also a problem. Thankfully we stayed in late April so occupancy was low-I can only imagine the busy summer months where you’d be at the mercy of whomever went to bed latest or arose earliest. In addition, we find we sleep best in a coolish room. Again our wing (perhaps older?) did not allow for individual temperature control in the room during our stay. The building engineer explained that it was centrally controlled and was still on “heat mode” so the AC control to cool the room wasn’t an option. While he offered to check to see if we could move to the wing across the pool (newer?) by the time we learned this midway into our stay, the idea of packing and moving just wasn’t something we wanted to do so we opened the patio doors during the day and endured at night without air circulation. This also made the hint of mustiness in the room more apparent. We had breakfast included in our rate and while the spread was vast, it felt a bit institutional. You can of course order fresh cooked eggs and one bright spot was Idiris, the restaurant host who greeted us each morning with his big smile and helpful attitude. Another “feature” one should be aware of in our older wing was the way the water temperature in the shower pulsated a few degrees hot/cold based on water usage elsewhere in the wing. Even in late April, once the weekend arrived so did a horde of families with toddlers-I’m sure looking for sunshine and fun in the pools. The hotel definitely caters to families with a special corner of kid-friendly food at the buffet and a kids club program. I can only imagine how busy it gets in summer. Bottom line, for me it’s a nice property and a great spot for a summer holiday if you are a heavy sleeper and have the kids along. I’m sure it would be a fun spot.
