We just returned from a 6 night stay at Velas Vallarta. I typically do not post much but felt obliged to say something in this case. Our trip was with 2 families (4 children and 4 adults) and all agreed this was one of the most memorable vacations we had ever taken. I truly believe the service at Vellas Vallarta made it so special. Jesus at the check-in desk set the the tone with unparalleled attention to detail and offering accommodations and services that he followed through on instantly. Getting our vacation started could not have been easier and he continued to check in on many occasions throughout our week which was quite appreciated. The in room service experience with David and German was second to none. We have vacationed at numerous large resorts before and this was a significant step above. Their promptness and attention to detail was highly appreciate by our group and their constant friendly smiles were infectious to say the least. They made our stay so lovely and phenomenal The food for the all inclusive was above average, though you do not come to an all inclusive for the food. However, some of the special nights and "special stations" had some truly wonderful food. The crepe station was a constant hit and quite tasty. The taco night on the beach was truly memorable and very delicious and our private dinner on the beach with a mixed grill was one of the better experiences we have had. Roberto and his team should truly be applauded. Suffice as to say we will be returning. Above all it was the service that truly set apart Vellas as a must-see place. Our vacation was a pleasure from start to finish. They took pride in their service and it showed immensely.

Our first trip to a Velas resort was Grand Velas Los Cabos back in 2019. Then in 2021, we stayed at Grand Velas Riviera Maya. Talk about a splurge and being spoiled! Everything was completely over the top; an exceptional experience. If you want to be treated like royalty, check out the Grand Velas hotels. My family travels as often as possible and we prefer to vary our experiences. As we planned for a 2024 spring break trip with the kids, we figured it was time to check out the Puerto Vallarta region for the first time. Originally I was looking at the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. However I stumbled upon Velas Vallarta and was intrigued from the beginning. Based on the reviews and black friday promotion, I booked a one bedroom deluxe suite for my family at Velas Vallarta for a fraction of what we had spent in the past on the Grand Velas. Of course the room types are different so it's hard to make a direct comparison. We went into this with lower expectations since it wasn't the "Grand". Fast forward to this week. We spent 5 nights at Velas Vallarta. Made many great memories and had a blast! Arriving at the resort: Booked "VIP Service" through the hotel after making the reservation. Please note, this is NOT a private car service. There is nothing really VIP about it. At the airport it seems like all the transport is run through the same back end service. They hand you a number and you wait your turn. We waited for about 30 mins after traveling all day. Complete waste of time being the resort is 10 mins away from the airport. My recommendation? Book an Uber the second you step out of the airport. A ride through Uber was $15 (used it on the way back to airport). Meanwhile the VIP service through the hotel was $70. Felt a bit ripped off to be honest since service was sub par. Not a huge wow factor from the front (like Los Cabos for example). The entrance to Velas Vallarta seems unassuming as its directly located on a street. Lobby is nice and has a lot of areas for seating. Lots of people checking in at the same time but we got checked in quickly without any complaints. The Grounds: Once you walk past the lobby you are in the central resort area with the pools. Very well done. Beautiful layout. You feel like you are in a jungle. Lots of birds singing. Iguanas and peacocks can be found throughout the day. Lots of fish in the waterways. You can see that the groundskeepers put in a lot of work to make it really nice. A+ Our Suite: 1 bedroom deluxe. As advertised overall. Kids slept on the "sofa" - this was not a pull out. Twin mattress sized for each child. They didn't complain once. The A/C was working very well. There was a small kitchenette. Housekeeping was on point each day. We had a large balcony that faced the pool. Dining room area which was perfect for room service in the mornings. Speaking of room service, you can order food and coffee at 7:30am. Took a half hour each time. Myself being an early riser (yes even on vacation) I found this to be a little late but I remained patient! Room was fine but nothing too special about it. It was clean but you can see it showing its age a bit. Bed for my wife and I was very comfortable along with the linens/pillows. Overall B+ if we are being critical. Dining: There was one ocean front restaurant which served breakfast, lunch, and dinner without reservations. The other "gourmet" restaurant required reservations for dinner. Never a problem to make a reservation the same morning even though the hotel seemed to be filled to a high capacity. The theme changed every day. A few Italian themes of different varieties. Asian. Mexican. Steak night, etc. The food quality is at a high level for an all inclusive resort. You can order off a menu or go to a buffet. The meals weren't just a Mexican version of the original dish. It was as if you were ordering the item in a high quality american restaurant. My wife was raving about the New York steak. The pancakes, waffles, and french toast were delicious. Kids ate a lot of pizza and I must admit it was tasty as I snacked on it poolside. I had tried all the seafood dishes and can't say anything negative. We try to eat an overall healthy diet and I say with confidence we all ate very well through the week. Plenty of fruit served each morning. Vegetables were served with each entree. You can ask for a plate to take away food. To-go coffee cups available in the morning. I don't think we were ever told we couldn't have something. Just ask nicely! To top it off, the ice cream and desserts were amazing. Food was certainly A+. Pools / Pool Service There is a very small pool in front of the kids club for toddlers. The family pool is tucked away in the back of the resort next to the towel hut. This pool seemed much warmer than the "adult" pool in the front. Tons of kids in the adult pool and at the swim up bar. They did water aerobics and there is a volleyball net in the adult pool next to the beach. Finding a spot in the morning to lay down your belongings wasn't too big of a deal. Yes you can get out there super early but you dont need top rush. Plenty of space for everyone. Pool service started at 11am for drinks and 12:30pm for food. Mixed drinks were OK. Most of the time I found it best to ask for a double. Service was friendly and efficient overall. The pool was clean and kept up with. No problem with using you own floaties or playing a game of catch. My kids brought their snorkeling gear. We hung out for hours each day and had a blast. One of the days we decided to leave the resort and check out the old town. The uber ride is about $20 each way. We felt safe the whole time and it was well worth it. You can walk to the Marina area from the resort which has shopping and restaurants. Accessibility is great and technically everything is at your fingertips. You are never far from anything you may need. I mentioned Grand Velas at the beginning of my review. You might be wondering how it compares? The Grand Velas is a more "grand" experience. It's as simple as that. Want to be spoiled? Book The Grand Velas. Your butler at Grand Velas will literally push your baby stroller. Employees will stop what they are doing to make direct eye contact and wish you a good day. It always felt like there were more employees than there were guests. The grounds were immaculate and the rooms were up to date. Everything was picture perfect. However, oftentimes it felt empty and perhaps too quiet. Perhaps it was the timing of our stays. Grand Velas certainly has the upper hand in overall quality and experience. But you pay for that. Velas Vallarta, if you can accept the fact that it isnt going to be quite as "grand" you will be extremely pleased. We enjoyed the fact that there were more families with children. Just felt more alive. Certainly not a peaceful and quiet trip, but we were on a spring break with the kids after all. My wife and I agreed that Velas Vallarta was the perfect balance. We highly recommend it and would come back for another stay in the future. Thank you again!

Such a magical and happy resort. No complaints whatsoever. Safe and clean. One of the best vacations ever! My sunglasses lost a screw and the arm came apart, l went and told the guest services.
