Just returned from 11 fantastic nights at the Riu Tequila. The entire hotel is superb. The grounds and the spacious rooms are immaculate and all of the staff work hard to make sure it stays that way. There are 4 restaurants within the hotel and we ate at 3 of them (no point going to the Steak restaurant when one of us is veggie). They were all great and the service was first class. The buffet selection in the main restaurant is huge, so my tip would be to walk around and view everything first. Snacks were available all day, with the pool area barbecue a highlight. The bars are great. The only one I was wasn't keen on was the swim-up pool bar. A bit too rowdy for me, and seemed to be a drinking contest between the British and the Americans or Canadians. I can't knock them, as everyone is allowed the type of holiday they enjoy, just wasn't my scene. The other bars were all great, with a massive selection of cocktails. I don't think there was a cocktail they didn't do. The sports bars shows all the major events, and had the best air-con, with a great selection of snacks. The entertainment at the hotel is also a highlight. The Neon and White parties are great, but the other nights are also really good. After the main entertainment has finished Pacha nightclub was great for a late night drink. The beach is a five minute walk along a lovely walkaway. Keep an eye out for the Lizards along the way. There is Seaweed on the beach, but once you get about 10 feet into the sea it's not really noticeable. We will definitely be returning the Riu Tequila. We loved every minute.

“Hotel great but badly let down by rules not being chased up, smoking everywhere and antisocial behaviour”

We visited in April for 21 days leaving on 4th May, Going to start with good points: The staff their are fantastic from evening food service,reception,sports bar and enertainment all great, Especially three people that stood out to go the extra mile, Julio in the food hall, Luis in the sports bar and Marbaya not sure if this is spelt correctly but she was walking round offering drinks and was very jolly. I'm sure there would be much more names than that but these are our favourites. The hotel was very clean even with the amount of leaves and berries falling from the trees. Cleaning staff are very friendly too. Food was sometimes very good and good enough at other times, if you like fish you will alway enjoy the food. The coco bongo guy needs a mention as he is a pain in the arse walking around all day trying to sell tickets, so anoyinging! Things we did not like, the fact if you want to sunbath your only beds are pool side beds and to many shaded beds set back away from the pool. The noise from rooms is quite loud chairs scraping, feet banging and people coming back from nightclub and sports bar after 2 am waking everybody up. People not being considerate walking about smoking when I would say the majority don't smoke there, now I know this is not the hotel smoking but nothing done to enforce smoking areas either. People walking around with loud speakers disrupting everybody most days when we were there. There were lots of complaints while we were there about noise and many people were moved to other rooms, we moved 4 times the last being move to a junior suit as security were going to three noise rooms just in our block and said we should go to a junior suit as they are likely to kick off as they are all getting a final warning, this was a group of 20 Dutch. Would I return? NO! NOT just to Tequila but to any Riu Hotels. This states 5 star bit you don't get a 5 star experience. This hotel is good if you are a party goer and are not considerate.
