My wife and I returned here after first visiting last year. It's located a ten minute walk from the beach and most of the shops and restaurants. There are some really nice restaurants very close to the hotel which are very good. Very clean and well maintained with a nice bar area. Breakfast was excellent in the upstairs restaurant with outdoor seating available. Loved the environmentally friendly scheme of getting a 5 euro voucher if you didn't need your room cleaned one day. All the staff were friendly and spoke good English, especially Caterina in reception. Small outdoor pool area, which was more than adequate as it wasn't busy at this time of year. We look forward to staying again.

Stayed March 16-23rd, clean , modern hotel, towels changed everyday, cleanliness second to none , staff unbelievable, friendly, helpful, always say hello, great bar area really relaxing, pool is small but went in Spring so was perfect and quiet, the village is quite spread out but this adds to the charm and beauty of this whole area , approximately 10-15 minutes walk to centre of the village with bars/ cafes / shops along the way. Breakfast had everything you need always fresh and plentiful, cereals, pastries, homemade jams , pastel de nata too ! Fabulous Velamar can’t wait to return ❤️

Booked this hotel as part of a 4-night mini break to the Algarve in March-2024, the hotel has everything you need for a short stay such as this or indeed a 7 / 10 or 14-day holiday. The services offered for a 3* hotel are very good and the staff (with the exception of 1 female) along with the decor make it feel a little higher than 3* if I'm perfectly honest. Check in was easy and even though we arrived late the very pleasant English-speaking lady on the desk made us and our little 7-year-old Neice feel very welcome. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout including the rooms we were in (x 2) and the public areas. They were offering water saving initiative when we were there whereby if you don't have your towels changed or your room cleaned (reducing water consumption) for a day or multiple days then you get a 5 Euro voucher per day to use at the hotel bar, which we thought was great and utilised for 2 days of our 4 days stay. Due to the changeable March weather, we didn't get to use the pool so can't comment on it. We had 2 rooms on the first floor which were both spacious and well decorated. The double bed in our room was comfy as were the pillows, the bed was absolutely massive (must be a super king size), and my wife and I joked that I would have the West wing of the bed and she would have the East wing. The bathroom was also huge and offered a great walk-in shower that provided plentiful hot and powerful water throughout our stay. The room also had a sizable balcony, a digital safe and plenty of wardrobe and draw space. The breakfast area on the top floor offers a large variety of both hot and cold food choices. We were certainly not disappointed with the breakfast offered. The beach and restaurants close by are good as is the supermarket for beach picnic items. The big draw for us was also the free parking in the hotel car park for our hire car. The hotel bar is nice, and the head bar man couldn't do enough to help, which was a nice touch. There was one female staff member who let this hotel down, not any of the serving, cleaning, bar or reception staff, we think she may be management as she was smartly (if somewhat provocatively) dressed in black tights or stockings with a line down the back. Whenever she saw my wife every morning at breakfast, she must have had some sort of issue with her as she kept harassing my wife about which room she was in, to which my wife answered politely each morning multiple times. This behavior, was uncomfortable, embarrassing and unprofessional on all levels, trying to insinuate that my wife had sneaked in off the street for breakfast.
