Hotel Macia Doñana

“Very enjoyable stay”

This is a clean and comfortable hotel, brilliantly located close to the beach. We stayed here for two nights in May, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The receptionist was extremely helpful in recommending a good restaurant for our second evening.

Spent two nights here and the pluses are the pool, good sized rooms, wi-fi that works, a location that is 5 mins from the beach and 8 from the best restaurants in town, it is also just 10 mins from the centre of town. There is also a very good coffee shop just over the road where we had some very good breakfasts. It also has parking. For what it is I thought it was very good value.

Had a long weekend stay here and the hotel was very nice. Located a 5min walk from the beach and about 15-20 min walk to the main town this place is ideal if you want to stay somewhere that is not in your normal tourist spots. The rooms are spacious and comfy with everything you need, the staff are very helpful and friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them. We only had breakfast at the hotel but the food was good and the restaurant was very pleasant. The pool area is nice and quiet and because the hotel is a little out of town it’s never busy. The beach is clean and again does not get busy (there are more local people on it that tourists) If you want to experience Spain in its every day to day life then this is the place for you.

Allocated a room was on the second floor and faced the street outside the hotels main entrance. It was very noisy as people in the street day and night were talking loudly, shouting and generally being loud! There was also a great deal of traffic noise day and night. Every evening, whilst we were out for dinner, a horrendous drain/sewage smell developed in our bathroom and made it difficult to sleep. We could not have the window open, to help disperse the smell, due to the noise! We complained to reception and they said it would be dealt with. During that day there was no smell. However, upon our return to the room late that evening the smell was as bad as ever! It appears there is a major sewage problem in the area as there was a very strong sewage smell in the streets close to the hotel. The reception staff would have changed our room and we would have accepted had it been realized the smell was going to be an ongoing problem. However, overall, a nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff, clean and in a good position for the beautiful beach. A good point was that the hotel is extremely good regarding hand sanitizer stations all over the hotel, by all doors and in the lifts etc. Parking in the surrounding streets was impossible. A long walk to the main old town (particularly for people of senior years) for restaurants and tapas bars. The chiringuitos on the promenade close to the hotel do not serve food in the evenings and other nearby restaurants very busy and very expensive.
