We have recently returned from our 2nd stay at the Mac Puerto Marina Hotel. Having previously stayed in October 2022, we knew the hotel & surrounding area well. On arrival, we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who checked us in quickly whilst we had a glass of cava. Having previously contacted the hotel prior to arrival, we were pleased that our room requests were taken into consideration. This time we had a roof top terrace room, on floor 4. The large room had a spacious, private terrace with sunbeds, table & chairs and sun umbrella. If you stood up, you had views over the hotel, beach & marina beyond. The room itself was well equipped and clean. The bed (2 single beds made together to be a double) was very comfortable. A large wardrobe (with safe, payable extra), a dressing table with large mirror, sofa bed and plenty of sockets. There wasn’t a full length mirror in this room type. There was a kettle along with tea & coffee supplies which were replenished daily. The fridge was a good size and we have learnt to leave the cupboard door open so it was worked more efficiently and kept the drinks inside colder. We left a note in Spanish for the cleaner to leave the door open & she followed our request for the rest of our stay. There were welcome drinks consisting of 2 beers, 2 water and 2 soft drinks. We found the air con and fan to be average in our particular room so we preferred to sleep with the balcony doors open. I would imagine in the height of summer, this room type would be incredibly hot though. The bathroom was of a good size, with ample space to put our toiletries and consisted of a shower over the bath although we would have preferred to have a walk-in shower. The hair dryer was a good standard. The cleaner did an excellent job and we were impressed with the cleanliness of our room and the hotel in general. This time, we only stayed on B&B basis so we could eat out at the many local restaurants. Breakfast was of a good variety and we enjoyed sitting outside in the traditional Andalusian style courtyard restaurant. The entertainment started at 9pm and was indoors. There was a variety of musical acts during our stay which we watched from time to time and enjoyed with a drink. The hotel’s location is excellent for access to the marina and for the promenade with lovely walks towards the centre of Benalmadena in one direction and La Carihuela/Torremolinos in the other There is also a taxi rank close to the hotel but we preferred to walk up to the main road and get the local bus. We never had an issue finding a sunbed and there is a small decking area above the pool which was very pleasant and felt quieter. The sunbeds, umbrellas and tables were clean and in good condition. We found the pool to be too cold at this time of the year for us to swim. The hotel was busy during our stay, with mostly older couples and a number of male golfing groups, which occasionally were noisy whilst sitting around the pool area. We enjoyed our 2nd visit to the Mac Puerto Marina and would definitely recommend it to others.

“Great hotel”

First time visiting this hotel but it won’t be the last. From the welcoming drink at reception when we booked in, to checking out the whole experience was great. Other reviews have said that all staff are friendly and this was my experience too. There was plenty of choice in the restaurant both in the morning and evening, and the cakes are to die for!!! The rooms were very clean and the maid was always early to clean the room each day. Plenty of sun beds around the pool and towels were available if needed. The poolside cafe was open for snacks, again with plenty of choice and really reasonable price wise. Thank you to all at this hotel for making our holiday one to remember.

I would say a very average hotel in terms of overall experience, negatives: - Double beds aren’t double beds, they are two singles, made up as two single beds (linen is made up as 2 single beds), and then simply pushed together. Really weird, not experienced this in a hotel before when I’ve booked for myself and my husband - food by the pool is very limited (3 things) unless i you want to go and formally sit and dine - Pool has the strictest rules I’ve seen in a long while The pool is freezing (no particular issue as it’s refreshing when it’s hot) but that does mean it’s empty 99% of the day. Your not allowed to; —- sit on the edge and enjoy a drink (in plastic cups which they sell you at the pool bar, I have no idea why) —- no lilos….. I’d get this if the pool was packed, but it’s dead as it’s so cold —- no playing catch , no idea why when there’s no other person in the pool to hit! As we are still here I’d say we will be spending more time at the beech where the fun police cant inhibit guest experience. On the positive the breakfast is good, the staff are good (except the pool guy who seems to grunt) and the hotel is in a good location
