This is a lovely hotel in every respect. The entrance and reception is stunning in decor , lighting and water features. Reception staff are most welcoming, informative and speak English. The service given is quick and concise. The dining arrangements are well organised as at breakfast it is open dining but you can be shown to a table if you wish. There are 2 sittings to choose from for evening meal where you are allocated a table on arrival at your first meal for the duration of your holiday . If you are dissatisfied with your allocation you can change it. The dining room is large but well organised. Excellent choice and variety of food served on warm plates which is essential if your table is not near the servers as it is buffet style. The range of pools and gardens are beautiful with waterways and waterfalls throughout. Everywhere is clean and well maintained with plenty of sun beds in the gardens as well as round the pools. Care is taken of the wildlife as there is a well cared for aviary and the hotel have the policy of neutering the few cats which have adopted the hotel and are kept healthy,regularly fed, watered and have a litter tray provided. The bedroom decor is a little dated but is immaculately maintained and looks exactly as depicted on the hotel website. The bathrooms have been updated. The seating area on balconies or terraces is also clean and well maintained. The air conditioning is quiet and efficient . Our room was a twin with balcony. We couldn’t fault anything at all. Even after vacating the room prior to departure we could use all hotel facilities by being given the security code for access as we had handed in our keys . Hot showers are also provided. A thoroughly enjoyable week and we will definitely return which is quite an accolade as after 50 years of holidays we have only done once before.

This is a nice hotel, we had half board. It is very well run with courteous staff and very clean. Location Excellent, close to town, plenty to do, we made regular trips to the harbour. Room Very clean and attended by staff. The tv was a small issue where the only English channels, other than the news was Film on 4 and BBC 1 whish kept freezing... didn't spoil the experience. Pool and facilities 2 pools, well kept, lovely gardens and walk areas, great spar, bowling and, not that we needed it, kids club. Entertainment Excellent, good acts every night Restaurant and food Staff excellent, though I did get caught out by the long trousers policy in the evening. Staff excellent and very clean. The food while good , the selection was not as extensive as with other similar hotels which is disappointing. Maybe more extensive pre cooked hot food on serve yourself would overcome the queues at the freshly cooked section!!

I recently visited the Cordial Mogan Playa,located at Mogan,Gran Canaria recently and felt my experience could be beneficial to other travellers considering staying at this hotel resort.I have visited the area of Mogan on several occasions for day trips over the years and have loved this beautiful area and decided to book to stay here for my holiday.The hotel lobby is very impressive and spotlessly clean.I received a warm welcome from reception staff at check in and was offered a welcome drink of either orange juice or Prosecco,which was a nice touch.I I did not have to provide a credit card upon check,as is the case with so many other hotel resorts and I was given a password for the free hotel Wi-Fi.The rooms and suites are arranged over a sprawling area in blocks.My room was very clean,the air conditioning was good and was individual climate controlled,not centrally controlled from reception,which I was very glad of.There were a selection of toiletries and kettle with tea and coffee supplies,including a coffee maker with a couple of pods supplied.There was also a fridge in my room with 2 small welcome bottles of water.I had a nice balcony with table and chairs,which overlooked one of the pools.There were twin beds pushed together in my room with only 1 pillow each,however there were more in the cupboard.Storage space was adequate,the furnishings however,are beginning to show their age and the tv looked old,with the only English channels being BBC1,BBC news and Sky news.I was very surprised to discover that face/wash cloths are not provided in the bathroom and the towels are thin,discoloured,old and tatty,the worst I have seen for any hotel in some time.I soon discovered too that the in room toiletries,tea bags,coffee pods,sugar and milk supplies are not replaced after check in,which I found to be extremely’penny pinching’ for what is meant to be a top resort.I also discovered that there is a €2.60 daily charge to use the in room safe and,as I had not been informed of this by reception staff at check in,I had to shortly go all the way back to request use of a safe and subsequently pay for that too.I would like to ask management why these cutbacks are necessary as,each day when I arrived back to my hotel in the evening,the room maids had left lights on in my room all day,needless to do this and indeed costs money and I know my room had been cleaned early in the morning each day.The water from my shower in my room changed frequently from hot to cold,within a couple of seconds,with no warning.There are bars,restaurants,library and gymnasium in the hotel also.A room key is needed to enter various areas of the resort,which for security can be useful but I found this a bit problematic whilst waiting at the hotel for my return transfer to the airport as I was confined to the lobby and library..The hotel is situated in a very good location,about a 5 to 7 minute walk to Puerto Mogan harbour/centre.There is a small shopping area opposite the hotel with a good sized supermarket.The breakfast buffet is good with a big selection of foods.I stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and ate other meals at restaurants in Mogan centre/harbour front,so cannot comment on evening meals at the hotel.There are 2 large pools with towels provided,spa,there is also a beautiful cactus garden and church in the hotel grounds,which are kept in immaculate condition.For me,the biggest asset for the hotel is the staff members,they were always very helpful,friendly and efficient,and should received recognition for being so.I had a good stay at this hotel overall and facilities are also good but I will not return.I feel that the rooms do need refurbished and the ‘penny pinching’with tea and coffee supplies and toiletries and charge for room safe really reflect badly on the hotel.For me personally,having to buy tea/coffee/milk/sugar/paying for in room safe may not be a massive issue but considering this is a 4 star hotel,these should be included daily,this is the first hotel I have come across where this is not the case.For me,next time I am going to book to stay at a different hotel resort in Mogan.This is a great shame but I am sure I am not the only person who would have these opinions.However,again thank you to all the staff members at Cordial Mogan Playa,you should be applauded for the excellent job you do at the resort and the pride you take in your work but to management,I would say the rooms need refurbished also.

The latest review May 4th is spot on and i agree with all the observations made. I just want to add a few points below, that seem to have been missed and maybe relevant and helpful to your stay. The hotel was indeed quite spectacular inside and out , with quite a grand moroccan theme throughout, and into the rooms. The breakfast arrangement was great and you turned up, found a table inside or in the beautiful outside terrace and settled down to a lovely choice of hot and cold breakfast foods and drinks including complimentary pink and white fizz, or vodka and tomato juice. On one day they even put out a bowl of ice with bottles of beer in, how decadent !!. The half board evening meal was a little different, and i will try and explain our experience as it got quite complicated ( at check in it would have been very helpful if the hotel could give out an evening meal handout, so you know what you need to do on your first night ). The first sitting was 6.30pm till 8.30pm and was the most popular. On your first visit to the restaurant, you can ask for 1st sitting for your entire stay and you are allocated the same table every night and receive a "dinner card" to produce each night as you go in. The restaurant is wound down from approx 7.45pm and closed at 8pm while they tidy and replenish for the 8.30pm till 10.30pm 2nd sitting. If you turn up after 7.30pm, you will be too late and we were turned away and told to come back at 8.30pm as they were winding down the first sitting. If you want to eat after 8.30pm, this all works in your favour, you will receive a dinner card for sitting 2 and your allocated table every night, no problem. We thought this was overly complicated, as breakfast is turn up anytime and choose table anywhere. I have never experienced a "2 sitting" evening dinner arrangement in a canarian or spanish or balearic holiday hotel and found this odd and restrictive. The food was all lovely if a little samey, so maybe introduce the occasional food theme night. We did see Sushi one night but that was it. Complimentary table water would also be nice, especially as you have some lovely free beverage options at breakfast. I asked for a jug of water, but had to buy a bottle ?. The pool and restaurant bars don't like cash, and request room numbers, so keep receipts as we witnessed guests with issues on checkout. British newspapers were very hard to come by, and rarely appeared in hotel shop or local Spar/ Dino supermarket, not sure why. British TV channels BBC 1 , SKY NEWS and FILM 4 and that's it. Library is full of the obvious, but hardly any English Books or Magazines, lots of choice for other european readers though. During your stay you use your room card to access areas inside the hotel and grounds, but on your last day and after you hand in your room card you are given a door code to tap into door pads, so you can still access all areas. They have a lovely courtesy room area which includes 4 small bedrooms / showers / towels for you to use, after the 12 noon checkout and if you have a later pickup time. The only problem is that they have put lovely beds in the rooms and some guests thought they could "adopt" the rooms for a nice sleep, instead of the intended "freshen up" facility. It all got a little chaotic on our stay with people wondering around in various states of undress , trying to find a little privacy to get changed whilst others had a nice nap. The Spa looks lovely but it is chargeable, 20 euros for 4 hours to use private pool and sunbathing area, plus treatments on top. Not a free facility. The hotel is righly proud of having a Michelin Star restaurant on site , but not sure of the benefits, as most of the hotel guest on B&B or Half board . It appeared closed for most of our stay. Too end on a high note and not to try and contradict my observations, i would return to the Cordial Mogan Playa as i now have hindsight and awareness. The lovely comments about this hotel are all very true, but hopefully you can now at least read some of the not so frequently mentioned observations.
