“A brilliant hotel and a wonderful holiday”

We've stayed at the Bitacora Hotel several times, before the Pandemic, and have always been pleased with our holiday there. Since the refurbishment, we were a little hesitant to go there again as from the pictures we saw on-line, it all seemed very modern and quite retro. We needn't have worried as the whole experience was brilliant. Yes, the colour scheme has changed to turquoise and yellow, but this makes it bright and cheerful. There were plenty of sunbeds and parasols around the pool areas, which is usually a 'bone of contention' and we loved the fact that the there are specific pools for adults only, children, a larger one for families and a "bubble" pool. The new water slides seemed to be really enjoyed by the children! We were particularly impressed to see that the hotel had very thoughtfully installed chair hoists in each pool for anyone finding it difficult to get in for a swim. Also where there were a few steps leading from one pool to another, there were also gentle ramps, making it totally accessible to wheelchair users and other incapacitated guests. It wasn't busy when we went at the end of April, but we felt that during school holidays, it could get a little noisy, but that's what holidays are for! The whole staff at the hotel were very friendly, one or two even recognised us from our previous holidays, so it surely proves that they are a good organisation to work for if they are still there after all this time! The food was brilliant, with many choices available and Gluten free clearly indicated. The staff were very good at pointing out vacant tables during busy times. Don't worry - there's always chips if you don't like anything else! Our room was diligently cleaned and the bed made every day which was an added bonus. We did notice that even though there were notices in the rooms to ask guests not to throw their wet towels over the balcony to dry but to use the clothes rack in the balcony area, one or two did not comply! Tricky one for the hotel. Finally, the entertainment - what can we say? It was brilliant. The variety was excellent and seemed to be of a higher standard than when we stayed there before. A good mix of acts and very professional. Being in the Bar area, it did tend to get noisy as some folk just weren't interested and only wanted to go there for a drink. Fair enough, but the sound had to be turned up to drown them out so it did get a little loud! There was a group of very loud blokes in the bar, who'd obviously had quite a bit to drink and it was a bit embarrassing, but the situation was handled brilliantly by the staff proving that you only have to ask. Overall, we had a brilliant time and fully intend to go there again. We read a few reviews before we went from guests who had grudges, but we found none of their "moans" justifiable, they obviously like being grumpy!

“Will return ”

Just back from this hotel. Travelled as a couple, late 40s. I have to say that in the main it's lovely and we will return. Hotel is lovely, in a great location. Just back from this hotel. Travelled as a couple, late 40s. I have to say that in the main it's lovely and we will return. Hotel is lovely, in a great location. Staff are very friendly, it can be a little slow at times getting a drink, but we didnt mind it. I'm sure during main season there will be more staff on as there were new members being trained up most days. Rooms cleaned and towels changed everyday. We always managed to find sun beds in the adult only area even when it got busier as the week went on. Obviously in high season this might be different. The food was hit and miss, typical AI but there was always something for everyone. There's also allergn free options. Entertainment in our opinion wasn't great and so we tended to go out at night and then come back for a couple of drinks later on. Things to note: - no kettles in the rooms (we knew before we went so took one with us as we do like a brew in the morning. - if you arrive after the bar closes at night you can't gey a drink, not even a bottle of water so make sure you get one at the airport. - whilst there is a fridge in the room there's no water in it, need to purchase a bottle and keep refilling it or you can get small bottles from the pool bar or cups of water from the other bars. - Once you've checked out at 12 noon, if you have a later flight you have to pay for food and drinks. - cockroaches, we had about 3 in the week we were there, contacted reception and they brought spray. They don't bother us as long as we see them we can deal with them. Hope this helps anyone considering this hotel. As I said we will be going back.

“Birthday treat”

Loved the size of the rooms, Lots of places to sit and chill in and out side of the hotel, nightly entertainment very good...always got a sunbed after our morning trips out which was a bonus, food can't fault it the best half board food we have ever had, my favourite being succulent medium rare r... more

Loved the size of the rooms, Lots of places to sit and chill in and out side of the hotel, nightly entertainment very good...always got a sunbed after our morning trips out which was a bonus, food can't fault it the best half board food we have ever had, my favourite being succulent medium rare roast beef and the freshly cooked fish so many veg and an excellent range salads to choose from, all hotel staff lovely. It does have 2 points we couldn't put up with and would stop us coming back, 1st there is no policing of (families with children coming in the Adults only Pool area)...and the 2nd the (volume) of the speakers for music and kids activities you could hear it 2 hotels away, it was deafening when you are sitting around the pool area... These are 2 points that can be very easily be rectified to suit everyone. Thanks for a lovely holiday

“Status quo”

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last 30 years, when I first visited it was with our son who was a small boy, the hotel then was ideal for a family and to this day it has remained the same, with the exception of doing entertainment ,ordering food etc etc on line. this is all wel... more

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last 30 years, when I first visited it was with our son who was a small boy, the hotel then was ideal for a family and to this day it has remained the same, with the exception of doing entertainment ,ordering food etc etc on line. this is all well and good downloading apps on your phone but the internet is one of the worst I have ever encountered and I used all three that are available if you enquire about them. As I said the hotel has remained true to families and is therefore ideal for them, not so for the senior members. food is good ,rooms are good, facilities are good, but as time as moved on not for us anymore.
