First impressions of the hotel were that it is well kept and clean. This was undoubtedly true. It’s a Spanish 4star hotel and the rooms were spotless and large. We had a junior suite that basically became a two bedroom room. The main bedroom is en-suite with the large lounge converting into a permanently down sofa bed for our 2 girls (12 and 9) who had plenty of space in the bed. A door separate’s the rooms so an element of privacy for all. There are also 2 balconies one off each room. The lower pool is heated and if you are all inclusive this is where your drinks are through the day. Branded soft drinks which made a change and San Miguel as the lager. Local spirits are generously poured. AI Food outside of meal times is available but limited and served off the pool area in the main restaurant. The upper pool is not heated but is large and much quieter drinks in this bar need to be paid for or is discounted if you are on an AI deal. The staff are happy, efficient and seem to genuinely want you to have the best holiday. However, the food does let the hotel down. Nothing wrong at all with breakfast it’s as you would expect. It’s from lunch onwards that the food (and let me make this clear it isn’t inedible) doesn’t match the rest of the experience of the hotel. Difficult to cater for 300 I get, but it’s pretty uninspiring stuff. The themed nights don’t really deliver and food is often over cooked. We also saw last nights dinner offered at lunch the following day. If we go again we would do B&B as when we ventured out, Puerto da le Cruz was wonderful. Not what I expected and the night we ate out family of 4 with drinks and a tip was €115. The food was comfortably the best we’d eaten all week. In summary, if they could improve the food the AI deal would be worth it, without go B&B. The zoo is well worth a trip as well and the €50 we paid for the guided experience was money well spent.

We had a reasonably good time at the Fergus Puerto de la Cruz in Northern Teneriffe. We booked via Easyjet Holidays with half board. The food was reasonably good - many people complain about the food, which tends to be uneven, although we always found a number of things which we liked at breakfast and dinner. Some of the items were not hot and some were canned, which was disappointing. Our room was reasonable, although a bit small for a week. Generally the staff was pretty good, although when we arrived Saturday evening at 0930PM, there was no dinner available for us. I would also not rank Easyjet Holidays particularly highly as there were no reps at the hotel and any communication was by text message.
