Having just returned from a fantastic family holiday at Jiva Beach Resort, I can honestly say this was one of the best yet. I travelled with my Mum and 2 daughters (13 & 5). This is a holiday that caters for families, couples of all ages or a group of friends. I have been to both Liberty Fabay & Club Tuana but I'd have to say this beats them all on Customer Service, food & attention to detail. I would say Liberty Fabay is more modern (being a newer Hotel Resort) and there are aspects of the layout (location of kids splash pool to main) that I prefer however this is personal preference and I would still pick Jiva Beach over them all and this is largely down to the excellent mini club team and the animations team manager Rodney (he is the magic that makes Jiva what it is). On Arrival, check in was easy, fast and staff took our bags and led us to our room. Reception - clean, welcoming and dealt with our issues. We were not satisfied with the room we were fist assigned. I called reception to request a room change and was advised that due to the late time of our arrival that we would need to wait until morning (fair enough). Reception offered us 2 options and showed us potential rooms available. Once decided, the bell boy collected our luggage and moved room for us. Rooms - We originally had a Family Room on the 1st floor but this faced the street with a small construction site visible and had an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. The only alternative options available were a family suite on the ground level which contained a living room in addition to the 2 bedrooms but appeared smaller as far as bedroom size and overall feel was concerned. The other room was another Family Room but on the 2nd floor (attic room) and although the bathroom and hallway were smaller the bedroom sizes were still excellent and the balconies much more private so we opted for this and were very quickly settled. Personally I didn't like the look of the swim up rooms as there was no privacy/partition on the patio between neighbouring rooms. We had room 718 which was resort facing. The only criticism of the rooms is that I think they could do with better lighting in particular for the evening. Cleanliness/maintenance - excellent! The place was spotless with cleaning and maintenance staff visible throughout. Our cleaner Sevilay was so lovely and did a fantastic job. When we moved rooms we had forgotten my youngest daughters new trainers and Sevilay came to our room with them. She was wonderful. Mini Club - staff were brilliant. So kind, friendly and warm. My daughter absolutely loved spending time there. I went back a number of times to ask her to come swimming with her big sister and I but she was having so much fun that she refused each time. Bell greeted us each time with the brightest smile and you could tell she enjoys her job. Thank you Bell for helping to make Melody's holiday special. Food - plentiful, great variety and caters for those with nut allergies. I screenshot a Google translation for allergy to all nuts and just showed this to the staff who were happy to advise what I could and could not eat. Excellent service. You could eat as healthy or as unhealthy as you pleased. Pool & Lagoon - the kids splash pool is decent with little slides etc and is enclosed within the mini club area with a few sunbeds. Whilst I like the security of this area (closed door with high handle) I would have preferred a splash pool closer to the main pool so that my yougest could choose instead of us having to seperate up if she wanted to go to the splash pool. The main pool was great but quite a distance away from the flumes. There was an additional 2 pools which we didn't use. Life guards throughout and felt very safe and clean. Plenty of sunbeds and the beach towels were very easily available and constantly being refreshed. This was an excellent service. The Lagoon was lovely to see, there were loads of fish, frogs, turtles and even a little snake swimming around. You didn't see many frogs but there must have been loads of them as the noise they made at dusk and through the evening was incredible. It was not disturbing though as the room patio doors are excellent at keeping noise out. Entertainment/Rodney! - absolutely fantastic! I specifically mention Rodney as he is the life and soul of the entertainment at Jiva. Without him the sparkle would be gone. He goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is enjoying their holiday. He has so much energy and is a fantastic asset to the Jiva Beach Resort holiday experience. The acts that come in to the resort to entertain guests are really high quality. The rock dance group were amazing, there was a fantastic band who played and the Saturday night party night which I wouldn't normally be into was a great night with DJ and dancers. Mini disco every night at 9pm for 25 mins or so was a non negotiable for our 5 year old, lol. She loved it and my eldest daughter Rachael and I enjoyed making a prat of ourselves joining in from the amphitheatre seating. The karaoke was a hit with my classic rock music loving teenager. Rodney made such a fuss of both girls inviting Melody up to do a dance instead of singing as she didn't know any words to songs and was so encouraging of Rachael who sang at her first karaoke. Daytime programme was also fun. We took part in darts which I was hopeless at but enjoyed, and also the water polo which was a good workout and fun. So the big question, would I return to Jiva Beach? If Rodney is there then 100% yes, if he is not there then 85% 😉.
