Did you know that the oldest Spanish golf course is found in Gran Canaria? The Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas was opened for the first time in 1981 and is located next to Caldera de Bandama crater, a cactus, palm tree and olive tree paradise. The views of Gran Canaria are incredible. Gran Canaria offers eight magnificent golf courses design by famous internation artists that have been able to fit the perfectly in the natural landscape. Gran Canaria is a port oven to visitors, 365 days a year. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas, Puerto Rico or Puerto de Mogán are unique places to navigate, just to enjoy the journey, whilst staring at the golden-sanded coastline you leave behind. It is very common for tourists to rent boats or luxury yachts; or hiring a day trip on a glass-bottomed catamaran and catch sight of dolphins and whales. Sailing is one of most popular activites for those who want to see Gran Canaria's other side. We recommend kayaking to an unpoilt beach, a fun way to discover charming hideouts that are unaccessible by foot and still have wild, intact nature. Get wrapped up in the passion for the sea.
For those who love marine life and ship wrecks, Gran Canaria has endless diving trips that will allow you to explore unspoilt areas and an incredible natural beauty. The warm water encourages diving to the ocean floor of this Island of a volcanic origin. During your underwater journey you will catch sight of European, African and Caribbean marine species. Vieja, Damisela Negra, Angel Sharks, Morena... These are only some of the species that you will discover during your dive. Playa de Cabrón, Pasito Blanco, Sardina del Norte, la Isleta, Puerto de la Luz, Las Canteras beach, Caleta Baja... Are only a few of the diving sites we recommend. Have a happy a dive!
There are very few places in Europe that offer exceptional conditions to surf, windsurf, kitesurf and bodyboard. With over 20 ideal areas to practice these water sports, Gran Canaria attracts thousands of enthusiasts seeking the best waves. Gran Canaria offers surfing lovers a wide variety of schools and clubs spread all over the island. In the south we would like to highlight Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas, the Maspalomas Lighthouse area and Arguineguín. The most experienced surfers usually choose the north coast, where sometimes the waves can be over 5 metres high. The west and the south are chosen by the windsurfers, especially Pozo Izquierdo and Vargas beaches. Gran Canaria is considered the second mecca for windsurfing, after Hawaii.
Upon us is an endless sea of possibilites. The crystal-clear water of the 236 kilometre coast and the fascinating ocean floor make, diving, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing a unique experience in Gran Canaria. Swim amongst the whales and the dolphins whilst exploring a ship wreck! With an average temperature of 18-22ºC it is impossible not to go swimming, no matter if its winter or summer. Discover water sports, a fun way of keeping an active lifestyle and are demanded by tourists. Take advantage of the ideal winds the island has to offer and practice your surfing, windusrfing and kitesurfing skills. Gran Canaria has excellent facilites and nautical services. Enjoy a swim in the middle of the sea and visit the most intimate calas. On the way back to your hotel, you will have a wide variety of restaurants, terraces, clubs... Welcome to Gran Canaria, an haven on land and in the sea!
Many think the best way to get to know a place is through its food. In Gran Canaria you will embark in a journey of a thousand flavours: a combination of traditional dishes and daring modern flavours that result in unique gastronomical experiences. Taste the local fish and seafood cooked in a stew with potatoes and sweet potatoes and seasoned with the aromatic mojo. We recommend trying La Vieja, the Canary's signature fish, the home-made vegetable stews and the tasty fish soups. For meat-lovers we recommend baifo (goat meat), veal, chicken and rabbit meat. If you are looking for a more gourmet experience, we recommend a good Gran Canaria wine and a quality cheese: the flower cheese. On the dessert table you can find the famous Canarian bananas, mangoes and papayas. Gran Canaria is also land of delicious liquors. We sugget honey rum or Cobana, a rum made of bananas. Bon apetit!
