Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas, Puerto Rico or Puerto de Mogán are unique places to navigate, just to enjoy the journey, whilst staring at the golden-sanded coastline you leave behind. It is very common for tourists to rent boats or luxury yachts; or hiring a day trip on a glass-bottomed catamaran and catch sight of dolphins and whales. Sailing is one of most popular activites for those who want to see Gran Canaria's other side. We recommend kayaking to an unpoilt beach, a fun way to discover charming hideouts that are unaccessible by foot and still have wild, intact nature. Get wrapped up in the passion for the sea.

The most experienced surfers usually choose the north coast, where sometimes the waves can be over 5 metres high. The west and the south are chosen by the windsurfers, especially  Pozo Izquierdo and Vargas beaches. Gran Canaria is considered the second mecca for windsurfing, after Hawaii.

Embark in a journey of a thousand flavours

Many think the best way to get to know a place is through its food. In Gran Canaria you will embark in a journey of a thousand flavours: a combination of traditional dishes and daring modern flavours that result in unique gastronomical experiences. Taste the local fish and seafood cooked in a stew with potatoes and sweet potatoes and seasoned with the aromatic mojo. We recommend trying La Vieja, the Canary's signature fish, the home-made vegetable stews and the tasty fish soups. For meat-lovers we recommend baifo (goat meat), veal, chicken and rabbit meat. If you are looking for a more gourmet experience, we recommend a good Gran Canaria wine and a quality cheese: the flower cheese. On the dessert table you can find the famous Canarian bananas, mangoes and papayas. Gran Canaria is also land of delicious liquors. We sugget honey rum or Cobana, a rum made of bananas. Bon apetit!
