A decent hotel with a few minor issues affecting our stay. My original review was not saved so have tried to summarise the main points below. Pros: 1. Positive service from the front desk and housekeeping staff. They were very helpful with providing directions and accommodating our request for more pillows. 2. Excellent location next to Pilgramgasse station (two stops from the city centre) and some lovely restaurants within walking distance. 3. Reasonable cost, much cheaper than other hotels in the area (which may be indicative of the following points). Cons: 1. Ant infestation (due to packets of sugar provided by the hotel). The housekeeping staff tried to resolve this but it remained a problem throughout our stay. 2. Room temperature. The heating unit was very noisy but didn't seem to do anything, even after changing the settings. 3. Bathroom setup. The shower head would not stay upright and kept falling down even when we tried to tighten it. As British tourists, the shelf toilet was also quite off-putting. 4. Noisy guests. Not really a criticism of the hotel but some of the guests on our floor were very inconsiderate, especially one woman who woke us up at 7am every morning with her opera warm-ups. Overall, not the worst experience I've had but certainly one that could have been improved.

I didn't give this hotel a four star (very good rating), but it is better than three stars (average) rating. We stayed there in December 2023 for two nights as part of a tour group. Our (small) group was just one of many tour groups staying in the hotel. We checked in independently and this was quick and efficient and the staff member checking us in was friendly and helpful. Our room was a reasonable size and adequate for our needs. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, a good bathroom, free WiFi and tea & coffee making facilities in the room. No complaints from us. Breakfast (included) was OK. Nothing flash but with enough variety to make it acceptable. I don't think I have ever seen so many hotel guests having breakfast at the same time, being spread out in what looked like several function rooms. Accordingly, it was difficult finding a table (we shared) & getting to some popular food items, with long waiting lines. Don't know how the hotel could solve this problem, except my nominating a specific time for each tour group to go to breakfast, which wouldn't please everyone, I am sure. There is a nice bar in the hotel, but the bar service was very slow. There are some good restaurants within close walking distance to the hotel. Whilst we didn't use it, I believe the hotel is close to a train line, but you would need to check this if you are interested in using the train. The city is in the process of building a new metro line close to the hotel.
