Me and my girlfriend spent three nights here in October 2019. It is a boutique hotel conveniently located within the Brussels pentagon; only a 15 minute walk from Grand Place/Grote Markt and other main attractions, or if you prefer to use public transport, Yser tram and metro stations are only 300m away. Be strongly advised that the hotel is situated in an area where prostitution operates; there are sex workers loitering on the street at all hours of the day soliciting their services, and use the hotel rooms with their clients. This made both of us feel somewhat uncomfortable, and our sleep was often disturbed by loud talking on the street outside, the click-clacking of stiletto heels and loud moans of pleasure during the night! That being said, the hotel itself wasn’t too bad. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious, with a mini kitchen and fridge. The bed and bathroom were also clean. Our only complaint was the shower - the water temperature wildly fluctuated from one extreme to the other! The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were initially placed in a room on the top floor of a separate building (the hotel is comprised of a number of apartments on both sides of the street), but my girlfriend preferred to be in close proximity of the hotel’s facilities, so we notified them of this and they bent over backwards to accommodate for us. All in all, not a bad place for the budget conscious, just be warned about the neighbourhood!

The hotel is close to Yser metro station in what is primarily a commercial area known as Kaaienwijk or Quartier des Quais. There are lots of old buildings of which Theater Hotel is one. Just along the street is a pleasant green space and the Theatre Royale Flamande.The hotel has an annexe across the street at number 28 where I had my room. It was very basic indeed but the bathroom was well fitted with a very modern shower, wash basin and toilet. The towels, changed daily, were of a better quality than at the 4-star hotel I had stayed in the previous week.The double bed was comfortable and everything was very clean indeed. The immediate area of narrow streets are all cul-de-sacs so there is no noise from traffic. It is also patrolled by a half-dozen local prostitutes. I never had any hassle from them at all but as I had a downstairs room I was disturbed a bit by their quiet conversation on the pavement outside in the early hours. As well as the Metro, there is a tram stop at the end of the street. Route 51 runs direct to Gare du Midi/Zuidstation.
