Everything about this hotel is excellent and beyond 5 stars. We have stayed in many hotels around the world in our lifetime and this has to rank as one of the very best. The friendly and welcoming staff (who remembered our names throughout our stay), the service, the room, the breakfast, the spa, the rooftop pool, the restaurant, the location - there was nothing not to love about this hotel. All staff spoke good English, the range of items at breakfast was very good but the quality of everything was first class (the fruit was so fresh it felt although it had been picked that morning). The rooftop pool had an amazing view of Ipanema Beach. The hotel was immediately across the road from the beach (with pedestrian traffic lights - a must when trying to cross the road in Rio de Janeiro!) and they had their own reserved area on the beach with chairs, sun loungers, drinks etc.

Truly excellent. Get the daily breakfast!!! It's excellent and you can order anything off the menu. The pastries are fresh, the juices are literally freshly squeezed. Truly excellent. Get the daily breakfast!!! It's excellent and you can order anything off the menu. The pastries are fresh, the juices are literally freshly squeezed. The staff was always looking for ways to help me. The location can't be beat immediately across the street from Ipanema beach and in walking distance to a host of shops and restaurants. The hotel provides beach loungers and staff at the beach with cold water. The 8th floor pool deck had amazing views. Overall, the attention to detail made my stay impeccable. Great service and a special shout out to Marcelo and Rafaela. Everyone made me feel so welcome and so special. The room was immaculate and I never wanted to leave. I hope to return soon.

The Fasano not only boasts one of the most glamorous rooftop pools but more importantly impeccable customer service. We enjoyed the rooftop bar, food and drinks were great. Further the staff at the beach across the street were friendly and set up a great pair of seats and umbrella for us. The Italian restaurant has a good variety of dishes and I enjoyed the seafood risotto one night. We tried another property in Rio on the 2nd visit and came running back to Fasano, it is that good. The concierge team are good a recommending a variety of restaurants and excursions. We stayed here on two different occasions on a recent trip to LATAM and will be back Travel tip--If you are an Amex member and book via American Express travel there are upgrades and complimentary spa credits often available .

“95% Perfect”

Hotel is very stylish as you expect from the Fasano brand. Even though the hotel has been open for quite a few years already the rooms and public areas are holding up very well. The view from the hotel rooms and the rooftop can’t be beat. Breakfast is high quality and the combination of buffet and a la carte is perfect. The staff at breakfast and also at the reception are amazing. Same goes for housekeeping. Very friendly, warm and professional. For that reason the difference to the staff at the pool becomes even more stark. I found the pool staff generally not very friendly or pro-active. For example I received an audible sigh when I asked for a umbrella to be set up and often I had to seek out staff at the bar if I wanted a drink. No one was coming around. Service wasn’t terrible but definitely not to the standard one would expect at this price. For that reason, and because of the size of the gym, I have decided to go with 4 stars instead of 5.
