It is always a pleasure to be recognised and smiled on every return to this hotel, one my homes in Rio! As very much detailed in my other reviews, the building is shared between hotels guests and tenants, which makes managing it a challenge but causes a number of annoyances to paying guests, for neither the investors nor the tenants are willing to improve the conditions of the forty-year-old building. The elevators don't communicate with each other, causing major waste of electricity; funiture is tired and needs urgent replacing, and a whole revamping is crying for help! The best asset, however, of this Mercure unit is its staff, all most kind and attentive, that's why it's always a major pleasure to be back. This time cleanliness was disastrous but management was made aware and took immediate action - they always listen to you and take remediative action straight away! Just like in your own home, there is always this and that which needs fixing and sometimes it cannot be done straight away; therefore, have some patience with what doesn't fully work there, they are doing their best as far as they can stretch!

“Great Location.”

Enjoyed my stay. Spacious rooms. Good breakfast. Friendly and very welcoming staff. Lifts a bit rickety and parking out front a challenge. Nice desk in room to work at. Small gym but good lap pool. Would stay again.

Location: The Hotel is located almost at the boundary of Copacabana with Ipanema. There is only a five minutes walking distance to Copacabana beach. There are many restaurants, cafes and grocery shops around this hotel. There is also a buffet type of restaurant called Temperate Posto 6 near the Hotel. This is also one of the venues where “Samba classes” are held every Saturday night. .Amenities: The hotel is or was widely advertised as an apartment hotel. Many of the earlier reviews also gave us this impression. As such we expected some sort of cooking facilities to be available. We booked a “superior room in the newly renovated” section of the hotel expecting better apartment facilities. We were wrong. Instead there was only a “Nespresso” machine with two “complimentary” coffee tablets only for the first day of your stay. There was also a mini fridge. The room itself is new and had new furnishing (see photo). We moved to an old apartment type room on the second day where there was a gas cooker and a large size refrigerator, pots and pans. The electrical voltage in this hotel is 110V (not the standard 220V expected in Brazil). The hotel has only one 110/220V voltage adaptor. The gym had only two items. Unfortunately none of them were in working order during our stay. Reception/Service: The entire reception staff and more specifically the manager on duty during the daytime were very helpful in every possible way. In fact I have not experienced this high level of “going out of the way” . to help the hotel guests during my travels. This is highly appreciated.
