Good price especially compared to others in the area. Large rooms: plenty of dresser space Clean. Great service: needed some toiletries and they delivered them quickly. Parking is expensive at $35/day but that's typical. *ask for an upper floor to get a great view of Montreal!

A lovely boutique style hotel in downtown Montreal. It's about a ten minute cab ride to Old Montreal (or half hour walk) and about a 20 minute walk to the Bell Center (we were here for the hockey game). Front lobby staff were very friendly and professional and recommended various pubs and restaurants for us to try in the area. We also had supper in their pub one evening and the food was quite delish there as well (their fine dining room is closed until February I think :-( ) . The rooms were very clean and quite spacious. Would I recommend this accommodation? An absolute yes.

I absolutely loved my Junior Suite with sofa and full kitchen for 5 nights. My 19th floor room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and updated and when I came down with a cold for the last couple of days, it was amazing to have a kettle for tea, a stove to heat up soup, and a full fridge/freezer for my ice cream, snacks, and heavy cream for my coffee. I was here for work but this hotel would also be ideal for a family trip. The location is so convenient to endless excellent restaurants and eateries, drug stores, shopping (cute boutiques or Zara/H&M), ATMS, public transportation, and the museum. This is very close to McGill so there were many affordable ethnic options just minutes away but doordash also delivered right to my door when I was too busy working to step outside. I'm not sure what other reviews are complaining about since my room was modern and clean but keep in mind that I didn't book the lowest room category. I recommend booking directly with the hotel for better service and if you find a lower rate on a 3rd party site, call the hotel and ask for that rate and room category. When I booked my Junior suite, the hotel's website offered an outstanding rate and was in Canadian dollars (so always check currency when comparing rates, etc.) Thanks for a great stay, I'd love to return with family.

“Great location, showing a bit of age, noisy construction”

We stayed at Hotel Cantlie for the second time on this trip, the first time being a year ago in October 2022. We booked a five night stay. Cantlie’s location is excellent. It is between Mont Royal and downtown, and the Peel metro station is minutes away. It is close to museums, restaurants, shopping, and an easy walk (or metro ride) to many other attractions in downtown Montreal. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with a kitchenette. The bed was comfortable, and the room had most of what we needed for our stay. Full size fridge and stove, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, etc., great for having breakfast in the room before heading out for the day. Staff were friendly, and when we needed the tub drain unclogged on the first morning, the plumber arrived within minutes of our call. No issue with hot water, and the elevators were reasonably quick but small. Noise within the hotel itself was pretty good (more below about outside noise). There was very loud noise from next door late one night (in that one case the walls seemed pretty thin!), but aside from that it was quiet. The hotel itself is showing some wear and tear but not too bad. Our room had some dents and dings in the walls, runs in the carpet, a few stains on the walls and ceiling here and there, and an arm of the sofa was coming apart. The biggest caution is the high rise being built behind this hotel. This is ongoing construction. We knew about this from our first stay in 2022 and had requested a front side room, both in the special requests when we booked on their website, and I also emailed the hotel a couple of weeks before our arrival. Unfortunately they did not honour this request for some unknown reason (they couldn’t explain to me why). It was a big letdown after driving twelve hours to Montreal. The construction noise was less than in 2022, but still a problem starting at 6am every weekday - loud enough to wake us up. Our room windows were directly across from the building site. I did email the hotel two weeks ago after our stay, asking if there was any way, in the future, to ensure our request for a front-facing room be honoured - what can we do as returning guests? Is there an additional fee we can pay to guarantee a front facing room? No reply as of this writing, which is very disappointing. Our first stay in 2022 was much better, and when we return to Montreal next year (this is an annual trip for my wife and me), we will find another place to stay. It’s a shame because this hotel has a lot to offer and the location is excellent.
