This stunning structure offers comfortable rooms, even up to the 60th floor. The reception is rather modest for number of rooms available. Great location with plenty of shops and restaurants in the close vicinity. Staff very helpful speaking English

Hotel is located half hour from Baiyun airport, The room is spacious, the bed is comfortable but the pillows are too soft (personal preference). Hotel is located half hour from Baiyun airport, The room is spacious, the bed is comfortable but the pillows are too soft (personal preference). Love the bathtub, it’s squarish & big for guests to relax. There’s complimentary Chinese tea. Improvements can be made to the bathroom door. Since my stay doesn’t include breakfast, we can easily get food from McDonald’s next building. One point to note - Didi private hire drivers may not stop at lobby to pick you as the entrance route can be confusing for unfamiliar drivers. Overall, I would recommend to stay in Crowne plaza.

We stayed here for one night as we needed to be in this location, the "old new city" as I understand. Not a very inspiring neighborhood to walk around (though we did find and enjoy a good Indian restaurant nearby). The property used to be one of the highest in the city, now eclipsed by many other Gz skyscrapers but still an impressive height for a hotel. They have a rooftop but it's awkward to get to, with several flights of stairs and elevator changes required and very little up there other than an odd plastic enclosed dining room only large enough for one table. The views from the top (and rooms) are great and it's really a missed opportunity that they haven't invested in putting some kind of real restaurant or club up there. The lobby is nice enough but the rooms, as expected, are aging and in need of renovation. In spite of top IHG status, we didn't get much of an upgrade. only a room on the club floor with no club access. The room was clean and okay but certainly showing its age. The bathroom was old but nice marble- but at times it had a nasty sewage smell (from bad plumbing ventilation) that one should not have to endure in a five star hotel. We had dinner in the Cantonese restaurant and it was okay, though certainly 2-3x more expensive than surrounding local restaurants. It was quite annoying that they brag of a 15% discount on F&B (even advertised in the room) for IHG members, but it didn't really apply. I told them as soon as we sat down that we are Diamond members and would like the discount and they said okay- but then at the end of the meal when they presented the bill the majority of it received no discount because they later said the discount does not apply to seafood. That odd exception is written nowhere on the menu or in the room so I don't know if they just made it up or it's an "unwritten rule" that customers are supposed to be okay with but it was annoying and unethical and certainly at a minimum should have been disclosed up front. So overall I'd say, if you're okay with an aging property then you can think of this in terms of more like a 3-4 star local hotel than an international luxury 5-star hotel at this point, and are okay with the location, then this place is interesting and a pretty good value for the rates they charge. I knew that coming in so I could live with the age of the rooms- but not with the stinky bathroom. And I took off one star for the fake restaurant discount that was not honored.

We hv stayed here a few times before the Covid days. Before checking in, we stayed at the Voco hotel (part of the IHG family too. We were assessing if this CP hotel is worthy coming back again. Check-in by the duty manager was unpleasant & unwelcoming. Compared this to their sister property, Voco which offered much better service standards & newer rooms. Hotel is near to MRT station. After many years of operation, hotel is dated but still well maintained.
