“Good but disappointing breakfast”

The hotel is nice and clean but the breakfast is disappointing it a lot of choice not worth the price, the place was clean, the room was a bit small too Would recommend but with an executive room thank you

Lets start with the positives for this hotel. The hotel is set off the beaten track of the main route to Annecy. Its about 20 mins walk into the town centre but the local bus stop is minutes away and costs about 1.50 euro, so getting into Annecy isnt a problem and to be honest is nice its off the beaten track and elevated as you can see the lake in the distance. The facilities were ok but i'll pick up more on this later. We stayed in one of the Villas for about 9 nights and paid a tidy sum of about £5500 for the duration, so not cheap ( relevant later on). The villa itself is beautifully constructed and perfectly suitable for a family/ friends (our party included a 16 month old) so perfectly suitable for little ones. The patio was spacious and the beds are comfy. Despite some of the reviews about friendliness of hotel staff i always found them (in person) to be friendly. Now unfortunately onto the negative aspects. I can see why this is a 4 star and not a 5 despite it holding Michelin star for its restaurant. Upon booking the hotel we were aware that there is a 500 Euro security deposit thats required, which is considered normal and something we were expecting to pay. When we checked we were surprised to be informed that the deposit is 3500 Euro (so a hell of difference). Despite informing the staff that the confirmation stated its 500 euro they were adamant its wrong and that we had to pay 3500 Euros. That amount is ridiculously high and unnecessary. We were fortunate that we took the right cards to pay otherwise you would have been caught out. That amount wasnt far off the cost of the villa itself. Ive since talked to booking.com on our return and they informed me that paying 3500 euro is incorrect and they will inform the hotel. That said i cant imagine i was the first so be warned. If we knew the deposit was that high we may have opted to look elsewhere. The Michelin star menu was essentially 125 Euros a head for Trout, Fig and rice pudding (see other reviews) which is overpriced for what it is. The food in Annecy was superb and cost significantly less. The facilities aren't all free to access. Use of the Spa and indoor pool cost 20 Euros per person, something which should be free for guests staying at the hotel. Our Villa came with an outside pool which was covered. When i put the covers back it smelt, had debris in the pool and there was no net or chemicals to use to clean it. That meant we couldnt use the pool at all. Theres no cleaning service for the villa unless you want to pay an additional charge and there is no changing of the towels. We had to ask to change the towels half way through. Accessibility to the Villas isnt easy if your disabled as its on gravel. We were ok but i imagine if you use a wheelchair it would be tough. Finally the price we paid clearly stated that the 200 Euro cleaning fee was included. Upon departure the staff wanted to charge an 200 euros as they say it wasnt included. I had to go through the paperwork with them to prove it was included but they decided to hold the security deposit open until the manager arrived. This again caused needless stress especially when the taxi was waiting to take us to the airport. Overall - not a bad hotel but they need to work on a few things to be considered a 4* let alone aim for a 5* hotel. Would i stay there again? If its left as is probably not as you could stay in Annecy for cheaper and have a better experience. Its a shame as its got so much potential. If you do stay be warned of the extra fees
