Brilliant holiday from start to finish. Hotel is clean. We had room 106 overlooking the Atlantic and the sunsets were very beautiful. All Staff are amazing, so helpful and happy. A little tip goes a long way too. Although you don’t have to tip. Take English money and change in the hotel for dalassi. (If from UK) The food was so tasty and plentiful. Themed night eg Mexican, Asian etc. fish chicken beef or lamb dishes also. Pasta, salads, loads of desserts too. Breakfast was outstanding to be fair, eggs, omelettes, pancakes, waffles. Sausage’s, beans, bacon etc and also cereals and fruit. Continental meats. Fresh Juices, coffee, teas. Al la carte was gorgeous, so chilled and beautiful views over the sea/river. Very cheap. I think about £14. The entertainment team are friendly, not overpowering. Entertainment was typically African. Both pools are amazing and clean. Beach is beautifully clean. Afternoon tea at the pool bar and ice cream a big plus. 4pm and 5pm. The market traders come to the hotel also every week so you can buy souvenirs. The guy who does sand pictures is amazing. We stayed NYE and celebrated at their sister hotel next door - Ocean Beach. We also did some trips from the trip guys at the front of the hotel. Highly recommend. They’ll take you to shop even if you’re wary of going out. We did the monkeys, crocodiles and the museum. Was brilliant. Definitely recommend. We also visited a nearby village and treat the children to school books, pencils, sweets and footballs. Was very rewarding. Buy from there as it’s extremely cheap and you’re putting into their economy. Ask for OUSMAN to do your trip. He’s a very polite young man and we’ve certainly made a friend from him! Tipping is a good thing to do as they don’t earn much! We never visit a hotel twice as is such a big world but we’ve booked to go back December 2024 as we loved it so much. Weather was 34 every day and 30 every night. Tip: take a travel kettle if you like a cuppa in your room. We also took the trip men our left overs, coffee, shower gel etc.

Food was plentiful and varied, catering for all tastes. The stand out thing for this hotel is the staff, very friendly and helpful in all matters. Big thanks to Yolanda who looked after us when we were around the pool, and all of the others we came into contact with, you made our holiday

“Fun in the sunbeach! ”

This was our second trip to The Gambia, having stayed in Kotu last year we wanted to explore a different part of the country. Bakau did not seem as set up for tourists as Kotu was, although we were told by people there that a lot of hotels had closed, and therefore many bars etc also, the area has suffered as a result which is a shame. So we were happy to come and spend some time seeing the wonderful people here. The Gambians rely a great deal on tourists and we cannot say it enough- go out and explore! Do not stay in your hotel, the locals are friendly and so grateful when you make the effort to go out and say hello. Our hotel was beachfront and the beach was sandy with free sunbeds for us. We are strong swimmers but because this is an area where the sea meets the river there are strong cross currents so swimming is not that safe for young children or inexperienced swimmers. There are beaches further down the coast to the west which are safer. There is a lovely bar called Calypso with a crocodile pool just a short walk down the beach, not cheap but a beautiful tranquil setting worth a visit (crocs are fed at 4 every day). There is a large craft market there too with plenty of things to buy. Outside the front entrance of the hotel is where the local tour guides sit, and we met a lovely guy called Saka who showed us around on our first day. He accompanied us to a local bar, Solemelos, with great live music, nice cocktails and delicious food- definitely worth a visit! The tour guides are a great group of guys, please give them a smile and say hello. Sunbeach had an animation (entertainment) team of lovely guys and girls who were friendly and fun. I feel that their entertainment could have been more varied and advertised better. A small board near the bar listed the days activities- this could have been bigger and activities promoted better! Some days there were activities, such as the sand painting and darts, that were not even on the board. We were all inclusive, and the food was amazing, such great variety and quality every day! The hotel was clean and pleasant. We had booked a double room but had two single beds, if we had asked they would have moved us but we liked the location of our room so we managed(!) It was a shame that the second pool was closed, apparently this has been the case since COVID but the pool we had was lovely. SPECIAL THANKS ❤️ to Saimou and Sukai at the bar, Solomon and Rosa in the restaurant and Eddie at the pool for being super wonderful and making our holiday extra special! We love The Gambia! 🇬🇲❤️🤍💙🤍💚

Loved our stay here. Loved our stay here. This is a hotel with amazing staff and being updated We stayed here 20 years ago, then it was closed (not because of us!!)The food is simple and cooked correctly The none premium drinks are okay, all inclusive includes diet coke etc Fresh coffee is top notch There are bars and places to eat outside of the complex, Mr Bass and reggae bands The treatments are amazing and so cheap, 1 hour and forty minute massage about £21 pond Pedicure £8 Lovely staff, who are really getting people involved with activities, but no pressure Guest relations Lady, brilliant, nothing was too much trouble Remember, this is a third World country. I see some posts saying its not this star or that, compared to most of the population, this is luxury. Birds with breakfast, crocodiles, monkey jungle Be brave go out and about, very safe, of course be sensible. Felt safe all the time, People are so friendly and welcoming, quite humbling when I think about my first world problems
