“Central location”

My stay at this hotel was a mixed experience. The central location is a definite advantage, offering convenient access to designer shops within walking distance. However, despite the room having central heating, it felt quite chilly at night, possibly attributed to the thin blanket provided. Surprisingly, essentials like slippers and an ironing board were absent from the room. While the breakfast wasn't exceptional, it fulfilled its purpose. On the downside, ongoing renovations contributed to disturbances with construction noise, including drilling. Despite these shortcomings, I must give special recognition to Jonathan from the front office. His exceptional service and assistance were standout, significantly enhancing the overall experience during my stay. Jonathan's professionalism and helpfulness were a considerable asset to the hotel.

Arrived at hotel around 11pm after a long day travelling and nobody was at reception. Knocked on a few doors around reception and still no-one. Waited a significant period of time before the receptionist came out of the office I knocked on and literally did not care he kept us waiting. It was then the longest check-in ever, he even asked me at the end of the check-in process to email over my booking which I found strange as never have I done this in my life. Went to our room and it smelt very dusky, to the point I couldn’t stop coughing so I went back down to reception and was told he couldn’t do anything about it. I asked if the hotel was fully booked he said no. So I asked why he couldn’t change my room then? He then said I had to pay €10 to change it but I was being downgraded a room type? Why would I pay €10 to downgrade a room type. He was the most rudest man I’ve ever met. I asked him for his name and who the manager was, he said Nils and he was the manager. We finally sorted our room at 2am! The next day I found out he wasn’t the manager, he was just the receptionist over night. On the other hand, checking out we met Lara, she was absolutely brilliant! 5* and so so welcoming. She helped and talked through the loyalty scheme and helped us with our route to the airport. Absolutely amazing- thank you! She is a credit, unlike Nils. Hotel: good location for transport everywhere. Approx 12-15 mins train to Alexanderplatz. A lot of construction at the minute but ask during check in (as long as Nils doesn’t check you in, you’ll be fine). Rooms: on the new side which is a walk, rooms are fab very spacious but modern. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in bathrooms. Breakfast: very good, chose your ingredients for your own omelette! You can make your own waffles! Bar called Van Gough connected to hotel, looked ok but didn’t visit. 3* review only due to Nils on reception being rude and unwelcoming!
