“Fantastic location ”

Stayed at OTA Berlin with my husband and two sons (18 and 16). We booked a studio apartment and it was a perfect base near the city for us. Huge apartment with two single beds and a double, beautiful high ceilings and very light and bright. The kitchen was very well equipped so we were able to cook breakfast every morning. We were at the back of the building, facing into the courtyard so street noise wasn’t an issue for us, although there was a very rowdy crowd staying on our last night, shouting out in the courtyard until all hours and again early in the morning. The apartment is only a 10 minute walk to Alexanderplatz and there is a U Bahn station less than five minutes walk away. There’s also a supermarket, bakery and pharmacy all nearby. We were on the third floor and there is no lift so you really get a workout! There was broken glass in the hallway on the second morning we stayed and it was still there two days later. We had been instructed on check-in to drop the two keys in the letter box in the hall when we were checking out. However as we were leaving we met an elderly man sweeping the stairs who insisted we give him the keys, I tried to explain that we would drop them in the letter box, as instructed, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer so we hesitatingly handed them over, hoping he was an employee!! The only thing that bothered me about the apartment was that there was no sign of any fire safety equipment anywhere in the building, apart from a fire blanket next to the cooker. No sign of a fire extinguisher or fire hose anywhere in the apartment or in the public areas, I was surprised that an apartment could be rented out to the public without stringent fire regulations? Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable stay.

We booked through booking.com which gave us all the information we needed about the Apartments. I emailed OTA and asked for late check in and they said it would be fine. I emailed them on the way to the airport to let them know I would not have internet in Berlin once we landed so they sent me the door codes. The morning after we took the train to the Hostel and signed the paperwork along with check out instructions and we were done! People seem shocked that there are no lifts however it is plastered all over so please read in future! We were on the 3rd floor which gave my calf muscles a good workout! There is coffee and various teas as well as sugar. Just don't forget some milk - there's a shop across the road fyi. The shower was great - strong water pressure and warm. There was plenty of soap and shower gel however we had our own so didn't use them. There were loads of towels also. Room was big and beds were set up for the 3 of us. The heating was on for most of the day - it was too hot for me however just right for the other two. You could hear music and traffic at times from the room however as you're in the middle of a city I wouldn't expect silence. It didn't bother us and wasn't so loud that we couldn't sleep. The only downside was that the Wi-Fi was a bit weak however this is neither here nor there. We loved our stay and will ask for the same room in future!

“Smart and roomy apartment in central Berlin”

Very spacious, comfortable and well appointed apartment in a central part of town. Some apartments were being renovated so we were woken early on Saturday which wasn’t a problem for us, but if you want a lie in it might be! That aside, I would recommend staying here.
