Lovely hotel, service and food too! I was very pleasantly surprised to find upon check-in that for the amount I had paid to book a room with a shared pool, I was staying in a separate cottage with its own pool. The small issue with the bathroom door was resolved immediately which I was very impressed with. As well as when the problem with the front door to my sister's room could not be resolved, they were offered to be compensated with another better apartment. This shows that the staff care about the reputation of the hotel and maintain a high level of service.

“Fabulous family holiday.”

We had a wonderful family holiday here. Re food: We were a large family group with pescatarians, vegetarians and vegans amongst us. The buffet breakfasts and evening meal selections were really fabulous. Lots of choice for everyone and all fresh and delicious. Loved the fact that no horrible bacon and sausages for breakfast but loads of fresh eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, fruit yogurt, pastries, etc etc. Re the grounds: beautifully kept and lovely to see all the vegetable and herb beds. Lots of choice of loungers and seating in all areas. Two good pools. Heated , Shady pool is ideal for babies, young children and there’s a decent play park. Nice beach area with good snorkelling from the pier. Amazing sunsets! Activities: lots to do: beach volleyball. Table tennis, pool. Staff: they made our holiday. Such friendly helpful staff, thank you. Rooms: spacious, clean with everything you need. We had a garden view, might treat ourselves to the sea view next time. We went early in the season so the heat wouldn’t be too much for our baby grandson so not much going in in Potos but still nice to wander into the local nearby town. We liked the coach and ferry transport from the airport and saw it as part of our holiday. It was very straightforward especially as you leave your cases on the same coach. Overall, highly recommended and such good value. We will definitely be visiting again.

Firstly, the food. I’m horrified at some of the reviews here: the food is the best I’ve ever eaten. I’m vegetarian, my husband isn’t, and we were both overwhelmed with the choice of fresh food. I’ve never seen such imaginative vegetable dishes. And for the chefs to come up with new dishes every day was little short of miraculous. The location is lovely, with a private beach with comfortable sun beds and clear water. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, rooms luxurious, views over the sea beautiful. My only criticism is the constant spa-type music in the restaurant and round the pool area; I’d rather listen to the sea and birds, but imagine that’s a matter of personal taste. We rented a car for the last two days which was lovely to see the rest of the island, but whenever we’ve been out it’s been a pleasure to come back to this oasis. Highly recommend!

We were very welcomed by the staff arriving at Alexandra Beach after a long travel day. (Be aware that from Kavala airport it is a 15 minute coach journey, 45 minute ferry and another 1hr coach journey to get to the hotel after a long wait at passport control!) They had Prosseco and a cold towel on arrival which was lovely. We were shown to our room and we were really pleased - spacious, modern room with a lovely sea view which we paid more for which I definitely recommend! The hotel has very well kept grounds, everything is clean and the hotel has a private beach too which was nice. Food - we were pleasantly surprised by the evening buffet - we loved the Gyros and Greek salad. Everything was fresh and replenished frequently. Breakfast was ok, no bacon, sausages etc but there was enough to choose from. Coffee not great. Alcoholic drinks were surprisingly expensive. 9 euros for an espresso martini that on one day was only a few sips full. We ended up just getting drinks from one of the shops in Potos and drank on our balcony. Staff - there was a lovely lady serving us every day for breakfast and dinner (I can't remember her name - she is always singing!) but she was always so friendly and happy. However one evening we were rudely spoken to by one of the staff at dinner. I think she was one of the management team as she was wearing a different shirt to the other staff and was older. We were assigned a table by one of the waitresses, and given a bottle of water which she had poured for us. As we were looking through the wine menu, the manager then came over to us and said "you are sat at somebody else's table and are drinking somebody else's water" and scooped up the glasses that we were drinking from!! My partner & I were shocked and embarrassed - there were others sat at dinner around us were looking over. I told her that we had just been told to sit here by one of her colleagues, we did not just sit down at a random table. She then said "Ok there must have been a mix up".. how unprofessional!!! It really ruined our evening. Other than her, the staff were all very helpful, smiley and *most* of them are a credit to Alexandra Beach. Entertainment - there wasn't any. We were told that because it was early season (12th - 19th May) they don't have any entertainment. Even just a local musician or something would have been lovely. We went into Potos one evening to see if the bars along the beach had any life, but we were practically the only ones there. So after you have had dinner there really isn't much else to do. Weather - nothing to do with the hotel of course but it was cold/cloudy/rainy 80% of the week which was such a shame so again, May probably isn't the best time to visit. Overall we had a relaxing week and for the price we paid it was great value for money, however we wouldn't return to Thassos as there are plenty of other more beautiful Greek Islands.
