First visit to Amsterdam. The hotel location was nice and central, the room clean, spacious with its own toilet and lovely powerful shower. The staff were friendly and the rooms serviced every day. We were allocated a back room (215), our friends a front room (212). They had a street view, we had an internal view looking onto other rooms. At night they heard all the street traffic and cars beeping - we didn't! The walls are fairly thin so drunken guests returning woke us up easily. We stayed on a room only basis, (our friends booked it, but when we got there we found out they don't do food anyway). There is a reception area where you can sit and eat (there is a supermarket a few doors away) so you could buy pastries etc and sit and eat them there. They do have a microwave you can use. They sell coffee for 1 euro each, which is very good when you look at the prices elsewhere! We enjoyed our stay, and if we returned we would be happy to return to the Hotel Espresso. We haven't been abroad since pre-covid. I was a shocked at the city tax being just under 100 euros for two people staying 4 nights. This is payable to the hotel upon arrival. I knew we had to pay a city tax but wasn't expecting it to be quite that much.

I stayed at Hotel Espresso for five nights in May 2023. The hotel is conveniently located in the central area, close to excellent restaurants and cafes. Public transportation options, including trams and buses, are easily accessible nearby. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Initially, I was assigned an interior room, which I didn’t prefer. However, upon request, I was given a front-facing room with a pleasant view. While the room itself was average, it provided all the necessary amenities. The TV was a bit small, and the bathroom, though compact, was well-equipped. The bed was comfortable. The Air Conditioning for the room was quite effective. Unfortunately, there was no breakfast offering, and the outside window needed cleaning. Overall, my stay was comfortable

“Convenient hotel”

Nice hotel, close to town. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. It worked as a good base for exploring Amsterdam. Coffee machine in lobby where you could get a drink for €1. Check in was quick and easy. We stayed in a triple room which had 3 single beds.

First, Amsterdam is expensive. During tulip time, it’s VERY expensive. Still, we were surprised at the “basicness” of our room and the hotel for the amount of money it cost. First, Amsterdam is expensive. During tulip time, it’s VERY expensive. Still, we were surprised at the “basicness” of our room and the hotel for the amount of money it cost. You will get a very small, clean room, a relatively comfortable bed and functional clean towels, but don’t expect any “amenities.” Oddly, they took the used towels every day and only occasionally replaced them! Dirty mugs were not removed or replaced, but we eventually discovered that clean glassware was available in the “lobby” (which comprised old plastic tables and chairs as well as a few very worn pieces of upholstered furniture). On the plus side, the staff were very nice. If you can afford to spend more to stay at a nicer place, do it.
