Arranged this short break as a surprise for my wife`s 60th birthday and our anniversary. There is a bus stop right outside which takes you to the central train station (bus 022) with a short walk into the city centre from there. Our experience below does not reflect the hotel overall as it was very nice. The rooms are spacious and spotless and the food from the restaurant very good Sunday 5th May. On arrival at the hotel we went to booked in at the reception desk. Once in our room 227 we discovered it very warm, so as it was early evening we put the aircon on low, got washed and changed and went out for the evening. When we got back a few hours later the room was still very warm so I put the aircon on full, but still no change as it was just circulating the warm air in the room and not blowing cold air. There were no windows in the room so myself and my wife had to sit in out underwear to try and cool down a bit. As it was fairly late we decided to talk to the reception in the morning and slept on the bed without any cover. Monday 6th May. In the morning I informed the reception of the aircon problem and was told we needed to put the door keycard into the slot, although I knew there was not one in the room as I looked for one on arrival. Anyway I went back to the room to make check I had not missed it but there was not one anywhere, so back down to reception. Informed them and was told that they would get someone to look at the aircon so we went out for the day. When we got back that night there was no change to the aircon, so once again sat around in our underwear before going to sleep on top of the bed without a cover. Tuesday 7th May. Complained to reception and was told an engineer would hopefully be there that day to fix the aircon and if it did not happen they would move us out of the room in the evening. Told the receptionist that we would be leaving the next morning. Came back about 8.30 that evening and guess what? Yes the aircon was still not working. It was late so it was pointless in packing everything and moving to another room so once again sat around in our underwear and slept on the bed without a cover. It was so warm in the room my wife was perspiring so much that the colour from her hair was staining the pillow case. We had a meal in the restaurant and the staffing seemed a bit short. The waitress appeared to be teaching a new male member of staff so she kept forgetting things like the drinks we had ordered 15 minutes previously. Went to the bar myself to remind her. At the end of the night I could not get their attention for the bill so went up to the bar to ask for it. Unusual for me but no tip left as service was poor.

This is a very good hotel very friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable nice comfy beds with two fluffy pillows that's a bonus. Number 22 bus stop just a short walk from hotel 5 to 10 minutes ride to Central station. Breakfast can be hit or miss depending on time you go, hot buffet can be cold, but there is plenty to choose from continental buffet so be adventurous and enjoy

First the positives. We loved our stay at Westcord Art Hotel and would happily return. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. The reception staff were always helpful with plenty of tips to make our trip go smoothly. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and spotless. The breakfast buffet was great with plenty of choice. We ate in the restaurant two nights and had lovely meals. The staff were friendly and attentive. They were busy and we were told that they were short staffed and only had one chef, but it didn’t seem to impact on service. As others have commented it's an easy bus ride into Centraal Station. Now the negative! On our last night we thought we would again use the restaurant as it was cold and wet outside. We called in on our return at about 4pm and were told we could have a table in the bar area early evening which was fine by us. On arrival we were shown to our table and given food menus. After almost 25 minutes no one had come along to take our order so we went across and reminded them we were there. The waitress took our food orders but couldn’t take drinks orders as they had new menus printed that day and she didn’t know where they were. We asked if we could have a jug of tap water and was told that wasn’t possible without charging for it. (It had been free on the previous nights.) We finally got our food and two of the burgers ordered were only just warm. We pointed this out to the waitress who offered to get them re-done. We then noticed the Manager was in the restaurant and spoke to him about our issue. He went off to check the situation and reported back that the burgers had only been standing for 2 minutes and couldn’t have been cool but as we were the customer he would accept what we said! He offered to waive our bill for 4 meals and drinks which was a nice gesture, but we really wanted something to eat. He then told us that they would not be able to provide more food because the restaurant was about to be taken over by a large group of 50 that had arrived the day before. We then had to go out in the pouring rain to find a supermarket and get something cold to eat, there being no other restaurants close by. We were made to feel that we were not as important at the large group they were seeing to, which is not a nice feeling, especially as the meal was a birthday treat for one of our party. We would certainly return to Westcord Art Hotel but we won’t be using the restaurant!
