The hotel is situated very central to all important spots. We got one of the older rooms, but it was big and spacious. The hotel is a bit worn down and needs renovation. Greg at the reception was very kind and gave a very good service. There is no elevator. We did not realize before arriving. The breakfast was ok with bread, toast, croissants, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, yogurt, Müsli, cold cuts, cheese, fruits, jam and sweets. The lady in the breakfast room was very rude. We loved our stay.

“Good hotel”

City Hotel Pilvax is in a lovely central area, near bars, restaurants, shops and attractions. Good public transport links nearby. Clean room, shower was a little bit small so not ideal for plus size travellers. No lift so getting baggage upstairs is difficult.

Stayed here for a long weekend in March with my daughter booked as a package with Jet2. This hotel is situated on the Pest side and is in a great location near to the centre of most things. Stayed here for a long weekend in March with my daughter booked as a package with Jet2. This hotel is situated on the Pest side and is in a great location near to the centre of most things. Our room was on the 2nd floor which has not yet been refurbished and it does show compared to the 1st floor. The room itself was big and beds comfortable enough. Breakfast was OK as included in price, I wouldn't have paid for it though. A basic continental and if for example croissants ran out, the lady working would not replace items and was quite blunt about it. Reception staff all nice and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay. Right next to a very busy Irish bar Jack O'Doyle's which was always buzzing.

Good location and great staff, always willing to help. It's an old, tired hotel, without lift, so get ready to carry your luggage upstairs. Good location and great staff, always willing to help. It's an old, tired hotel, without lift, so get ready to carry your luggage upstairs. Some old rooms (economy) are quite large, the renewed rooms (standard) even though look nicer are way smaller. Shower is tiny, you can barely wash yourself without hitting the walls. Breakfast is not a good value at 12 Euro, you can get way better breaky buffets in nearby hotels for 14 Euro.

I stayed at the City Hotel Pilvax with my mum on a sightseeing trip to Budapest. We stayed for 4 nights, and I was unsure what it would be like as the reviews were varied. We did not pay a lot for the mini break, and although the hotel could do with a face lift and modernising in general, the room was really comfortable and clean. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. However, there is no lift in the hotel, and the staircase to all of the rooms is a spiral. The building was always really warm, especially the room itself, as we had yo turn the air con on one night. The breakfast could have been better. There was always fruit, cereal, cakes, and bread, but the hot food was scrambled egg and hot dog sausages. However, it did the job, and there was always a range of juices and hot drinks. The best thing about the hotel is its location. It's close to everything, and we both felt really safe walking around at night. In the reviews, it does say that the standard rooms are better, and this is what we stayed in. There were 2 beds, which were very comfortable, a TV, desk and wardrobe. The bathroom was modern and clean with a shower in it. The water was hot, and the shower had good pressure. There is a shop across the road, where you can buy drinks, toiletries, alcohol etc, which we found useful.
