We were a group of 12 friends making a first cultural visit to Budapest. The Continental Hotel made an ideal base from which to explore the city. Many of the main sites were accessible on foot. I was the organiser of the trip and, with no prior experience of Budapest, came to rely entirely on the excellent and ready advice of the Concierge Team, especially Mate and Marta, who helped me with all the restaurant choices and reservations, airport transport, minibus bookings and with all manner of practical questions. The hotel is very spacious and the rooms are modern, comfortable and scrupulously clean. The buffet breakfast is generous with a wide range of food choices, hot and cold. Our group dined in the hotel on our first night, and the food was excellent, too. I would highly recommend the Continental Hotel.

“City break”

Went to Budapest as a couple for a short city break. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are all very helpful. Went to Budapest as a couple for a short city break. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are all very helpful. The rooms were lovely we just had an issue with the maid that cleaned our room, everyday she seemed to forget something- one day she left no toilet roll, another day there were no towels and also no teabags and milk. We had to keep calling reception to tell them. They did deal with it but that’s not the point. The other issue we had was that they would be cleaning in the morning when we were in bed and they wee talking so loud across the corridor so you just couldn’t sleep. The location of the hotel was great really central to everything- lots of bars and places to eat. I would definitely recommend this hotel

“Value for Money”

Well located with nice rooms. Room cleaning staff could have been more attentive. If you are a vegan or vegetarian the restaurant menu or the breakfast buffet is very disappointing. The front desk is very polite and accomodating with Marta the concierge absolutely brilliant

This would have been a 5 star review but a couple of things let down the hotel. 1. The temperature of the rooms. Staying in May the weather was 25 C every day but the rooms would not go below 24!!!! This would have been a 5 star review but a couple of things let down the hotel. 1. The temperature of the rooms. Staying in May the weather was 25 C every day but the rooms would not go below 24!!!! Complaining to reception did nothing as they just said take it off auto. From reading previous reviews looks like they just don’t put the air con on….i understand this in winter but when it’s this hot it becomes ridiculous. 2. Service was let down by the above but also each day our towels kept disappearing and never returning. One would go each day an not be replaced. It got to the point where we had no towels at all. No problem people make mistakes so we called reception and went to the pool, however, after two when returned from the swim to get ready to go out there were still no towels and we had to go down to reception to eventually get some. Other little things didn’t help such as we were not actually sure the rooms got cleaned when we were there. One example being a mug we’d used was left a couple of days. The rest of the stay was great. Good location near ruin bars and a short / nice enough walk to the river. Staff polite and gave good recommendations. Bar nice and a great building. Breakfast especially on Saturdays was a bit manic but decent selection (would have liked more fresh fruit). Pool was good but lacked seating / loungers judging from the amount of people you saw looking for somewhere to sit / lie down. Overall this hotel could be so brilliant but the main downfall was the heating situation which bordered on spoiling out stay. Without this it would be 4/5 and if the other smaller things were improved 5/5.
