Everything was 5 star from check in to departure. There was a welcoming, friendly receptionist, hotel room very clean and comfortable, cosy bed, food at dinner and breakfast of a very high standard and catered for specific dietary requirements. The hotel setting on the banks of the lake was tranquil and the eco walk was interesting. I would highly recommend this hotel.

“Excellent food and staff”

Excellent food and the staff were just wonderful. Special thanks to Paula for being fabulous. We live in Spain and are visiting family, this place really has a homely feel. Children given an activity page to complete which kept them busy. Chowder unreal and bacon superb!!! We will be back

After staying a number of times over the last 6 months, I feel I can now give a true opinion of The Hodson Bay Hotel. The drive up to the hotel, meanders along a tree lined road and as you come around the last bend you are rewarded with your first glimpse of the hotel and a fabulous view of the lake. The landscaping around the hotel is well thought out and it's very pleasing as you arrive. The reception area has plenty of staff to welcome you and plenty of lounges to simply relax. There's plenty of information available for things to do and places to go. There's a lovely bar with plenty of seats both in the bar and also in the super big conservatory area overlooking the bay. I visited the restaurant for breakfast and it has been fantastic each time I've been there. There's so much choice available and the food displays are always topped up. Again there are plenty of staff on hand here who can't do enough for you. They quickly and quietly clear off the tables, keeping the restaurant looking it's best. Once again the views of the bay are fabulous with the sun shining in the window of the conservatory. The colours of the fruits on display are gorgeous and the selection of pastries really help you feel like you're abroad somewhere. I've been fortunate enough to have stayed in a Retreat Deluxe Lake View Double each time. The moment I walked in the door of the room, it felt both superior and opulent. The room is very very spacious with amazing floor to ceiling windows overlooking Hodson Bay. The bed is really big and so comfortable. In fact the room is so big it comfortably fits a two seater and a single seat lounge chair. There's two wardrobes, with bathrobes and slippers in each. It has a gorgeous, very large bathroom with jacuzzi bath, large washbasin area and really spacious shower. I noted to myself each time the hot water is instantly lovely and hot and the cold water is lovely and cold, if you wanted to cool down. I visited the Spa on one of my visits and again the staff were so nice. Immediately they resolved a slight problem I had and offered the more comfortable relaxation room for me to wait while the issue was been resolved. They were so focused on ensuring I was comfortable and relaxed. They were welcoming and engaging. The setting is super relaxing, it's really well decorated. From the moment you arrive to the unfortunate time that you have to leave, you will feel welcomed and valued by the most pleasant and helpful staff all throughout the hotel for the duration of your stay. They really make a difference and definitely enhance my stay here. I truly love staying at The Hodson Bay and I only stayed there for the first time six months ago, so that speaks volumes.

“Waited over an hour for food!”

Waited almost an hour for bar food (4 adults, 1 child). The girl who took our order never came back. Six employees walked by as I stood at the service station waiting to ask a menu question. Waited almost an hour for bar food (4 adults, 1 child). The girl who took our order never came back. Six employees walked by as I stood at the service station waiting to ask a menu question. Not one stopped to ask if I was ok. I had to stop one of the many staff that passed by and ask. I was told they would have to check. I am still waiting…,,,. While food was nice, not worth the prices charged and would not rate 4 star. Only positive was the manager on duty. Very professional and quick to check in with customers.
