Having read some of the reviews we weren’t sure what to expect before we arrived. However, we really didn’t need to worry. This is a hidden gem. The location is great and within 5 minutes walk to St Marks Square yet it’s so quiet. It is exactly what you would expect from a Venetian hotel -situated on the canal, accesible over a little bridge with so much character both outside and in. We read reviews saying it was dated - it’s not dated it’s a Venetian hotel not a Premier Inn! Our room was amazing and very clean, the staff couldn’t do enough for us (there was no milk in the room so I popped to reception to ask for some. A member of staff said some would be bought to our room and, within 5 minutes, a member of staff knocked on with a jug of fresh milk). Breakfast was great with lots of choice (both hot and cold) and an amazing pancake maker! We loved our stay so much that we’re already booking to go back next year. Thank you for a fabulous holiday!

“A slightly odd mixed bag of a hotel”

Just returned from three nights here. Sadly, we were not in the main hotel, but the annexe which is not staffed apart from breakfast time. We were in room 601, which was inches from the front door. That door was controlled by a loud buzzing electronic tag system, so every time anyone entered or left we could hear it clearly. There were only windows above the eyeline so we had no view at all. The room was OK, nice beds and bathroom but it also had flaking plaster in some parts. It's obvioulsy a very old building that has been renovated so don't expect flawless decor. Some of the rooms upstairs in the annexe opened directly onto the dining area,which was also odd. I should imagine they were awaken by breakfast prep from 6.30am. We were, as lift was also next to our room and it went up and down constantly from that time. Forget about any notion of a lie in! There were also renovations going on next door which were noisy during the day Breakfast was average. Mainly continental, some nice cakes, pancake machine, cereals and fruit, toast etc. A few hot offerings, but they were poor... Bacon greasy, rubber scrambled egg and created chicken nuggets. Reception staff varied... Very nice when we arrived but not great at times afterwards... A bit haughty. Main plus point of this place is it's location. Easy for Rialto and St Marks. One last thing... This hotel is not easy to find. Make sure you have very accurate directions or a water taxi prepared to drop you very close by

Im sure the hotel is nice, if you're actually staying there when you arrive, We were transferred to another building down the street which was only staffed on a morning with no reception. Our room was very nicely decorated however the mattress and pillows were low quality and there was hardly any storage space, it was one of the most impractical rooms I've ever stayed in. The single wardrobe had both the safe and minibar inside ! So limited space for anything else. Be so careful if you are staying in either the hotel or the other building, as this hotel has rooms which are INCHES away from lifts, toilets and rooms that also open out into the restaurant. Breakfast starts at 7am so if you like a small lie in, then forget it. The location of the hotel and the other building is great, walking distance to a vast array of sights and attractions.
