The staff are excellent and keen to help (especially Anisa & Pellub, you were both fantastic and always smiling), the exterior, foyer and dinning area are all clean, tidy and well-maintained. The lifts are very good, the food for breakfast was perfect with plenty of choice (toaster on the right cooks toast better than the one on the left). Its in a great location next to Hyde park and only 5 minutes to the Queensway tube. I could go on about the shabby rooms, but all I say is - I slept well, the hair dryers were great (daughter comment), the shower was great. Money spent on the room's would improve their look but all I wanted was somewhere to sleep, get washed and go and explorer London. They had a room lock issue for over a day and how the staff didn't go mad is a testament to their sanity and for trying to make the guests comfortable, well done.
Stayed for five nights and was unsure given the mixed reviews Reality is the hotel is good from a location perspective and cost but is three stars at best The pros We found the staff to be helpful There were a number of times they were getting abused by other people So they were receptive to a friendly Smile Breakfast was fine just get there early Location is good close to train stations and park and lots of food choices two streets away The cons The hotel is very tired and needs some TLC and repair work Only One thin pillow on each bed makes it hard to settle at night Overall if you just need a small room as a base it is fine
This hotel is in a fantastic location near Bayswater tube station and Kensington gardens - the room we had was small, a little shabby and had a quite uncomfortable bed. Overall a place to sleep, not much more.....
This is one hotel to avoid. Despite informing the duty manager prior to arrival of mobility problems placed in a tiny room on first floor. Narrow corridors and worn carpets. The bathroom was so small could only use the toilet by sitting sideways. Very shabby decor though housekeeper did her best. Breakfast was poor, dining room more suited to a primary school. Cannot recommend.
Just returned from a 2 night break. This is the worst hotel we have stayed at in London. The corridors are small with threadbare carpets. The room was very small, the walls were filthy with holes and marks everywhere. The headboard was a dividing piece of plaster board and they only supplied 1 uncomfortable thin pillow each. The bathroom was small with a sink small enough for a hobbit with no plug cover so every time you washed you were staring down a manky hole. The shower head was attached with duck tape! . The breakfast was ok but not enough tables and chairs to accommodate all guests. The only good thing was the location. It is next to Hyde Park and close to 2 tube stations. Overall I would say this is just an overpriced Hostel and would not recommend staying here.
