The hotel was in the perfect place, extremely Central!
Everything more or less, room was dirty, bed sheets were dirty and itchy, long black hair in the bed, in the shower (baring in mind I have short blonde hair) staff extremely rude when checking in, asked me to swipe my card without telling me she was charging me for taxes or how much.

Old hotel a bit worn but room was actually quite nice for the price. Location was terrific. Room was spotless. Mattress was old spring type but more comfortable than I thought A good value. Got the job done
This isn't the best hotel in NYC, but it is cheap and good if you just need a bed and sleep and don't want to spend too many hours indoors....I had a very fully couple of days and was only in the room for sleep and getting ready the next morning. I've also stayed here before. I would say this is not the place I would stay if I wanted to be in NYC for an extended time. But for a night or two it is worth it...BTW - I saw the desk help just get blasted by customers left and right and it was disturbing to me. I think the hotel attracts a lot of people who are looking for deals but then tend to be very hostile and entitled.
We stayed in this hotel On 22/102017. It was the worst experience of our lives to date. From the moment we checked in to find our booking had been cancelled and had to re book at double the cost to the moment we left it was an horrendousexperience. We opened to door to find dirty carpets and dirty tiles in the bathroom , no towels and had to wait ages to have them delivered, the bedspread was full of cigarette burns, the plumbing left a lot to be desired, the shower was loose from the wall and orange staining down d walls from the dripping. The sink wasn't any better with holes and cracks. No bottoms in the drawers , I could go on forever. It seems this hotel can get away with anything because of their convenience to Penn Station. It should be closed down by the relevant authorities.
As incredible as it may seem I had stayed at this hotel and recommended it to my family staying during the period before my wedding in NY as price was lower than other hotels. Result: A rat entered my brother's room and opened packets of crackers. The hotel promised an upgrade that never took place. They never called us again, and the next day, the person who had promised the upgrade - Bolivar, he simply did not show up. I’m waiting at least for a refund for the night that the rat appeared as due to the stress nobody could sleep!!!
The only positiv thing is the location. The rest is a desaster. We booked the 'renovated' Penn 5000 rooms...The rooms (13th floor)they offered us first we did not accept. They had nothing in common with the pictures in the website and the smell of damp was awful. The new offered rooms, 6th floor, were not better. We wonder whether these 'Penn 5000 rooms' exist! We felt sorry for the employees at the reception. So many guest were complaining. We thought that all the bad comments on tripadvisor etc, cannot be true. But they are! And dear management don't send me the standard reply that you feel sorry and that you take the complains serious. Obviously nothing changes.
