Ac Hotel Alicante By Marriott

“Always an excellent choice”

Always clean and tidy, love the AC hotels, great value for money. Private parking for a small fee. An array of food should you add breakfast to your bill. Right on the beachfront. Only 20 minutes or so from Alicante airport.staff friendly and professional.

We stayed 2 nights in the hotel and had a very pleasant stay. The rooms were a good size and had a fridge, tea kettle and the usual bathroom amenities. They were clean and quiet. The staff at the hotel were pleasant and helpful. We had dinner there one evening and it was quite good. The buffet breakfast was fine and had a good variety of food. The hotel is not near the area where much of the restaurants, shops and beaches are so we needed to take taxis but it wasn’t too expensive to get there. We did use the parking garage. I have to say that the garages in hotels in Europe are challenging at times. We were driving an SUV and there are some tight spaces to get around. But the parking wasn’t too expensive and there were always spaces available.

“Good hotel, BUT…”

We stayed at AC Marriott for a week in February. Overall the hotel is of a good quality. Even though it is a cheaper brand within Starwood Marriott range it is still consistent with its brand. The most of the staff members are very nice, especially Ruben at the reception who both check us in and checked us out is very friendly. The rooms are not very big, but functional . There are nice amenities in the room, like Korres shampoos , shower gel, etc. There is a nespresso machine and tea/ coffee are provided as well as water. There is a fridge with minibar too. The hotel has a small pool, unfortunately it was too cold to swim but you could enjoy the sun on the loungers. There is also a mini spa and gym . There is a steam room and small jacuzzi. The breakfasts are good , maybe I have seen bigger selection in many other hotels, but that was absolutely enough, selection of English breakfast with Spanish twist, selection of fresh juices, yogurts, pastries, cold cuts, jams, freshly baked bread, fruits… We tried the food at the hotel and it was pretty good and the portions are very big , as well as the cocktails are of a good quality. The location is also good , slightly further from the main port area, but walkable. There are plenty of shops, restaurants , banks , supermarkets in the area. It is very close to El Cortes Ingles if you fancy some shopping. Overall everything was good, but there is one big BUT which I have to mention . The cleaning of the rooms. That’s was done very inconsistently and we got the proper cleaning only once. Usually we were having breakfast , after would quickly change and leave the room for some sightseeing/ lunch… You would expect that by the time you are back at around 14.00 or 15.00 the room should be cleaned , right… Not the case here, the lady was finishing cleaning only once when we were back. All the other times they were knocking on our door just when we are back and after asking if we could leave the room to clean. That makes me think it was intentional, first we were away for 4-5 hours, and when we were back they wanted to clean? Plus I have never seen that the cleaning ladies would ask you to leave the room while they are cleaning, of course we did not , but they are there for you and not vice versa. So that spoiled our experience a lot and made the stay inconvenient. Maybe because we were at the end of the corridor of the sixth floor, but they should be able to see when the guests are not in the room. So I think if not that I would give totally positive review to this hotel. I think the management should look into it. Otherwise, everything else was very good.

The noisiest hotel I’ve ever had the displeasure of staying in. The noise internally from other guests and staff, as well as externally from nearby building works is constant. Also unhelped by the fact we requested our crew to be in rooms by each other and to not be disturbed in the morning having worked night shoots - the hotel did not do this and cleaners would be clattering around from 08:00am. Nearby doors close with such a slam that the room actually shakes. Despite informing the hotel of this when booking and told this wouldn’t be a problem, they did not honour this. When asking again during our stay and to be situated away from other guests so we wouldn’t be disturbed we were told this wasn’t possible as the hotel was full (which seemed unlikely seeing as it was Feb/March). We chose to move our crew hotels instead. Everything else about the hotel was fine and as to be expected but getting a good night sleep should be the most important thing about any hotel and this one fell very short of that I’m afraid
