“Great value, comfortable and convenient stay, fantastic staff!”

Booked very last minute as I was visiting for a friend's birthday party and the friend I had planned to stay with couldn't make it anymore, unusually for me, without reading the reviews! When I did I panicked a bit, because I read there were only 3 parking spots and I was driving 6h, I didn't want to then be circling the neighbourhood trying to find non-resident parking for hours! A quick call to the hotel the day before and the super helpful Deputy Manager arranged to reserve one spot for me (which cost £10 a day, pretty reasonable in the area!). On check in the lovely lady I had spoken to on the phone, Kerry, was again very helpful and friendly, and went above and beyond with some local suggestions too. Cannot fault the staff at all! The room was the superior double pictured on the website, one floor up above the reception, and it was a very pleasant surprise after the reviews. Yes, the carpet could do with replacing, but for the price paid that really isn't something I am bothered about! The sheets were clean, the mattress comfortable (pillows a bit flat but find folded in half), and the bathroom was spotless with a powerful hot shower. The bedframe was quite creaky though and had an obvious 'fix' on one side which probably doesn't help. I would have had a very good night's sleep, were it not for the fact that the floor above the room seems to be very thin and creaky, and around 2am its occupants returned and proceeded to walk around until around 4am which was very loud. This late hour is probably unusual (indeed, the second night I didn't hear anything) and not the hotel's fault, probably the age of the building dictates the creaks etc. However, it is worth noting and perhaps packing earplugs! Breakfast is included and is a help-yourself affair, consisting of fruit, cereal bars and pain au chocolat/flapjack, with instant coffee and tea. The lack of real coffee at breakfast was my only real complaint, because there are limited places to get a coffee first thing nearby, and it would probably be fairly simple to have a big urn of filter coffee, but I appreciate not everyone needs caffeine as much as I do! Overall, a very pleasant and convenient stay (fantastic central location) and I would recommend Oyo to anyone needing a comfortable base for a night out in Bristol. Thanks very much!

The staff are very friendly in particular Kerry the manager who is very chatty and helpful. The rooms are basic but comfortable. It is perfect for me as I tend to get there late evening after work and the gym. The bed is comfortable and the area quiet. There are restaurants across the road and supermarkets nearby. Breakfast is take away where you serve yourself with juice, yoghurt, pastries, fruit, biscuits and tea/coffee. I just grab a bag then go to the office. The number 8 bus into town is 3 minutes walk away. Other buses (1. 2 etc) go down Whiteladies Road or you can catch all the buses at the triangle which is just over 5 minutes walk. Or you can walk down to College Green in 15 minutes. I like it as it works for me and good value. Thanks Kerry and team for a comfortable stay!
