This hotel is in a great spot we were 14 min walk to the castle 11 mins to the Royal Mile perfect for a weekend exploring Edinburgh. Rooms were clean with tea and coffee facilities nice breakfast and friendly staff. Only negative was my daughter was on a pull out mattress on the floor. Would be nice if family rooms had proper beds for everyone.

“Bit further away than i thought”

Booked this as was seeing Hamilton as Festival theatre and just decided to make a weekend of it. Booked this as was seeing Hamilton as Festival theatre and just decided to make a weekend of it. Bit further from the theatre than we though (approx 10 min walk) Check in was slow as there was no room ready despite us not getting there til 4pm. A few stray hairs in the bathroom but otherwise typical for a Premier. Did not eat here.

“Great location, fine place to sleep”

The hotel is next to much nicer (but much more expensive) Novotel. The location is superb, in the city center. The bed was fine, the room small but okay. The cleanliness could have been better, the continental breakfast is disappointingly mediocre.

We arrived mid-afternoon and were told there were no rooms ready until 3pm. When we came back at 3.20pm there was a long queue at reception. We queued for almost half an hour to check in. The staff at the desk were really slow, didn't seem sure what was going on, gave complicated instructions on how to use the key cards, and generally didn't seem to be able to handle it being busy. In the room, there was black mould on the shower head and several hairs in the bathtub. There were some sort of fans or ventilation machinery outside the windows which were very loud. Although it was a warm night, we ended up closing the windows due to the noise but could still hear the fans. At breakfast there was no prepared scrambled egg, only fried. This is the only time at a Premier Inn that I've had to ask for scrambled egg as a special order. I also ordered some veggie sausages but they and the scrambled egg took a very long time to come out. I was about to give up and leave. When they did come out, the scrambled egg was too dry and not very warm. This is the only Premier Inn I've been to that only had one coffee machine at breakfast, so there was also a wait just to get coffee. Overall, although better than the worst hotels I've been to, this was the most disappointing stay I've ever had at a Premier Inn. Especially considering the price at £200 for one night, almost twice what a London hotel could be. It makes me consider that I'll find an alternative to Premier Inn next time we're in Edinburgh.

Typical experience of the hotel chain, not luxurious but perfectly alright for a short stay. Bed is comfy, room is clean, staff are friendly, breakfast is good.
