I stayed 6 nights in the first week of April at St Ermins, and found it to be outstanding. I booked a suite and two ordinary rooms. The two ordinary rooms were nice, spacious enough, and covered all the basics. They were very clean. The suite was a very nice size with two couches and a dining table. The furniture was well maintained and the room was very clean. The suite size was perfect and allowed for my younger family members to relax in my suite and then retire to their own rooms. The hotel concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast buffet was high quality with several hot items as well as extensive pastries and cold cereals. The bar was nice and comfortable with a wide selection of cocktails, gins, and single malt scotch's. All the drinks were very reasonably priced. I felt the overall hotel ambiance was outstanding and reflected a bygone era of class and refinement without being dated or stuffy. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. I also noticed staff diligently polishing, cleaning, and shining common areas. As a Marriott Ambassador, with over 2000 nights stayed, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite hotels and made me feel like I was at home.

Last year my wife and I had a great stay at a hotel we had not visited before in London. It was a 10 day stay and life got busy afterwards so we never reviewed it, despite its memorable excellence. This year we bookended our travels by staying at St Ermin’s on both sides of other journeys. The pleasure we felt that first visit was just as potent (if not more so) during our recent stay so we wanted to try to do it justice. The hotel itself is a gem of distinctly comfortable beauty. The crystal chandeliers, mosaic floor, pristine ornate plasterwork ceilings, layered art and lush velvet furnishings with quiet nooks and alcoves signals that the hotel is special. Throughout the design points constantly to nature in fabrics, carpets, subtle stained glass in the interior stairwells, etc. We love the whimsical (yet functional) Bee Terrace on the third level. The overall design leads to the feel of a quiet, peaceful lavish country manor—but it is mind-bending to remember you are in the heart of busy London. All of this is in the lap of Westminster with Parliament and Buckingham Palace, etc. as near neighbors. Additionally it is worth it to learn of the intriguing role the hotel played in WWII for any Churchill fans. While there is much more to be said of St Ermin’s as a hotel and a location for a visit in London, the customer experience aspect is by far the outstanding feature. As point of reference my wife and I have been lucky enough to stay at some of the finest hotels in the world on various continents. Some have had extraordinary views, or world-class spas, or massive luxury suites (all very nice, indeed!) However none have managed to have such a thoroughly consistent feel of being cared for. Genuinely it seems like each staff member feels it is their happy personal duty to make sure the guests are content and comfortable. In an industry often fraught with employee turnover, we were delighted to recognize so many of the staff from our prior visit. We never failed to smile at the sight of Stelios the bowler-hatted master of the courtyard entrance who, along with industrious bellman Amit and others keeps the limousines and taxis moving like clockwork or runs to miraculously conjure a London black cab out of thin air. We’ve honestly rarely remembered a front desk attendant, but Yash Shah was so helpful and kind when we needed assistance he goes on our list of memorable encounters. While room service breakfast is typically a favorite treat, we cannot bring ourselves to miss the variety or customizations available in the buffet and menu options in the dining room. But best of all is the warm and attentive staff. Nahid Yasin is a manger who offers a personal welcome and greeting that makes us feel like we are dining with a dear and generous friend. Our waitstaff, Ramos was outstanding at ensuring all needs are promptly and happily met, as was Leticia on the final day of our stay. Rita as hostess for dinner and Ruth as our server for dinner were just two of the people we remembered well from our prior stay. Both exude the graciousness and enthusiasm for their job we have come to know at St Ermin’s. Even the new Terrance Bar location staffed by Joana and Ricardo whom we had not met before held the signature standard of service. On our slightly blustery Spring evening we had umbrella heaters and were given knit throws to keep us perfectly comfortable. Upon requesting a port not available in the terrace location, Ricardo quickly slipped down to the main bar downstairs to produce it for us. This is a beautifully run hotel, and the people responsible for it deserve to be proud of their accomplishment here. One never feels like a stranger or faceless tourist here. It is layer upon layer of quality, sincere care, history, beauty and excellence. It is our idea of the embodiment of gracious British refinement in the heart of London.

Trip advisor - St. Ermins I love this hotel. And it’s. Not what you think. The hotel is historic with those details that make you feel like you’re in a by-gone era. But it’s the people. 100%, they are totally engaged and have a vested interest in making sure you are happy and enjoying your visit. It’s all about the service for me. And there were some standouts for sure. The one thing that can make or break a stay is housekeeping. 1. My housekeeper Casandra was OUTSTANDING! She cleaned my room as if a dignitary were coming to stay. Clean sheets, clean towels, no dust anywhere to be found. Smells wonderful when she’s done cleaning and she always remembered my preferences when I told her. If I didn’t know better, I’d she was cleaning for a stay from family! I’ve never had better housekeeping. 2. I also was grateful to the night manager, Phillipos. He made sure that I was taken care of when I had a problem with street noise and light. The room he helped us into was on the quieter side and the blinds blocked all the light for a wonderful sleep. He also helped with a personal matter and went up and beyond expectations. 3. Since I had breakfast here everyday, I got to know one of the servers, Xavier from France. He would also ask about my day. One day I made a BLT instead of breakfast (felt like lunch) so I requested mayo from Xavier. The next day he saw me at breakfast and brought another mayo for me - made me smile. And laugh a little! In the end of the day the hotel must come alongside the people. This is a boutique hotel that does canapés and complimentary wine pre-dinner hours. Unfortunately it’s only an hour and if you work in London, you’ll miss it. And I wish they had a lounge - very important to me. They do complimentary machine coffee and water. The whimsy of an on-site aviary was amazing with a working colony of bees. That is a very thoughtful touch and very needed. The historicity of this hotel is very cool with an on-site small “museums” room. They all are so friendly and warm, it’s hard for me to believe as a hotel with this many people will always have a person who’s having a bad day and showing it at work. Not here - I think I’ve entered Happy Land!
