First class hotel in a very central London position. Everything first rate from the staff, cleanliness, breakfast and quality of room (room 315) Fullers should be very proud of their establishment and of course, their perfectly kept London pride on tap!

We stayed in The Camberlain for 2 nights as part of a London city break. Booked through booking.com Rate was good value & included a double room with breakfast. We didn't eat any other mean there. Access is 5 mins walk from Aldgate tube station on the flat. Check in was smooth & the staff will hold your bags if you arrive before check in time. You're issued a voucher for a single drink at the bar; the young lady at check-in appeared embarrassed that it made no since to issue one single drink to a couple for 2 nights... The room was immaculate and comfortable. The bed was very good; the ensuite was spacious and well-equipped. There was a mini fridge (empty, aside from a small bottle of fresh milk for coffee) and a small supply of bottled water that isn't replenished. There's a safe & iron/board. We didn't want or use the wall-mounted TV. The room included a Nespresso capsule coffee machine with a few capsules and cookies. Breakfast is served in the restaurant; continental items and cereals are serve-yourself, but the cooked offering is to order. Our order took a long time; we weren't in a rush, but others were & we could seem them asking what was happening. Staff were very polite, knowledgeable and attentive. The environment around the hotel was quiet & safe; we had an evening meal at a superb curry house (Rajasthan II) around the corner. Recommended.

My partner and I stayed here for one night on 31st Jan. My partner had stayed here before on business and said it was a decent hotel in a good location. We could only stay one night due to work constraints unfortunately but have booked again for 3 nights on the stay and save deal in July as we’ll be attending a concert in Hyde Park and catching another show. The hotel is pleasant and good as a base. We found the atmosphere good. Staff were friendly and helpful on reception. They took our bags for us as our room wasn’t ready on arrival and the Dane on check out the next day as we had a full day and afternoon in the city before an evening train. Room amenities were good with a comfortable bed and good linen, good coffee pods, tea pigs tea and a few complimentary chocolates which were a nice touch. The bottles of water in the room were appreciated. We had a drink in the bar downstairs before we left to go for a meal and to see a show that evening and found the bar staff dydnt seem to be very happy. Maybe this was a one off as we only had contact with one barman? A smile would have been nice. Other reasons I don’t rate this a 5star experience was that there was a definite whiff of sewage smell coming from the hand basin in the bathroom and breakfast service in the morning was a shambles. Decent cooked breakfasts when they arrived were good but despite booking an arrival time the night before,we had a lengthy wait for service, watching others being served before us and they’d arrived after we did. We were on a schedule in the morning and had allowed extra time for this which was just as well. Apart from that, everything else was good, hence we will return again this summer.

“Far from luxury”

This is not luxury. and not worth £250/night. I have previously stayed at Fuller's Counting House a couple of years ago and was pleased with my stay and the overall experience there. Unfortunately, my stay at The Chamberlain did not compare favourably. As you can see from the photos, there were issues with the bathroom that had obviously been issues for a while. Why are these niggles not addressed? A hot water tap in the bath that was constantly dripping, yet could not be turned on sufficiently to run a bath. Small things that could so easily be fixed, poor cleaning in the bathroom too. The full English in the morning was minimal and one out of my four night stay, the half-tomato was stone cold, as was the single portobello mushroom. My breakfast was the first served that morning so perhaps these came straight out of the fridge? I won't be booking this place again, perhaps the Counting House, or probably most likely Young's Fox and Anchor close to Smithfield will get my custom.
