This is a sweet little place at a perfect location for central London visits. Situated in a relatively quiet street surrounded by stylish beautiful traditional town houses, it is a short walk to two major tube stations, thus easy to reach most of the city destinations. The building itself is definitely historic and still holds the flair of times. My single room was of modest size but had all I needed for a pleasant stay. The bed was very good for sleeping, although the room could welcome a touch of refreshment. I missed at least one more plug - my room had only one free - modern digital nomads travel with at least two devices that need sometimes to be fed in parallel as well. The staff is extremely friendly and pleasant, which makes stay feel at home. Overall it is a great value and I will be checking the place next time again for sure.

Located in a residential neighborhood of elegant old townhomes (some are now embassies and others have become apartments), this gives you a quiet respite from the tourist areas, yet is easy walking distance to Buckingham Palace and Westminster as well as Kensington shopping, and multiple "Tube" stops. The only reason I am not giving an excellent rating is that the tiny old Victorian elevator and the very narrow spaces in the bathroom and the lack of air conditioning may bother other people--they did not bother us! There was a fan in our wardrobe and that made up for the lack of air. We enjoyed the really nice breakfast buffet. There are not a lot of restaurants in the immediate area, but a 5-minute walk gave us good choices. For London, we thought this was an amazing value!

First let me tell you how to get the best of this hotel- only take one of the executive rooms that have curved glass windows. These are nice bright rooms and quite large with a sitting area. First let me tell you how to get the best of this hotel- only take one of the executive rooms that have curved glass windows. These are nice bright rooms and quite large with a sitting area. Don't bother otherwise. Our room was an " upgrade" we were told- but it was quite small, one small window and a tub you could barely walk around. Worse, you can't drink the water! No, you are not in Mexico but you could feel like it, They have an antiquated water system and urge you to drink the water in the coolers on the landings. It all comes with a breakfast- but again, its worth your money to eat elsewhere. Its a shame- absolutely fabulous location, extremely nice people helping you but rooms that feel old, faded and small. Again, there are some nice rooms-mentioned above- but if you can;t get them , find an alternative.

The Diplomat Hotel is a beautiful period property located within a decadent residential area of London. However, whilst the period features are beautiful externally, they rapidly lose their charm internally. In the bedroom that I stayed, ‘period’ is evidently used as code name for ‘shabby and dated’. Equally the internal geometry and layout of the room made for difficulty with the toilet being barely accessible for an average sized person. However, the staff were great and the location superb, leaving just an internal facelift required!
