This hotel is right next to the Carretas Shopping Mall (with direct hotel access), so it was very convenient. Being Elite members, we were upgraded to a nice suite by an excellent and friendly staff member, Federico, on high floor, with ocean views. There is a Club lounge for Elite members that served breakfast and dinner (during specified times). The food was reasonable. It is very convenient to travel to the old town and historical attractions via Uber, and the fare was quite reasonable. There was a money changer in the shopping mall. There's a food stall in the food court that sold very nice Chivitos (called Chiviteria MIL Salsas - see picture). We found the price of food in Montevideo was relatively more expensive than Buenos Aires. On one night, there were live bands playing on the food court level till quite late (some sort of promotional event). Overall, we did enjoy our stay at the Four Point Sheraton hotel.

My group and I spent one night at the Four Points Sheraton. Before our arrival, the hotel reached out to me to see if we needed transport from the Montevideo airport to the hotel for a fee. The fee was moderate for the group of us so we decided to take them up on it. When we arrived, there were no surprises and the driver was there waiting for us. The hotel upgraded me to the bonvoy floors and the room was quite large with a king size bed, desk, flat panel TV, a large bathroom. The hotel is starting to show its age a little but the facility is very clean and the staff is super helpful. The front desk manager (Alvaro) was very kind and always wanted to make sure we were happy. I even asked him if I could checkout the next day at 4:00PM and he immediately said no problem without even checking my reservation or status. We had some problems with the WiFi dropping out but after informing them, they were able to fix it quickly. We ate lunch in the hotel restaurant and it was fine since we had just arrived and were famished from our travel. The prices were reasonable. The hotel itself is near the center of the city and close to the 14 of July Avenue where many stores and restaurants are found. When I checked out the next day, I realized that I didn't have anymore cash on me and was going to book an Uber to the airport. The front desk said Uber was fine but also offered one of their drivers to take me for a modest cost. I opted to go with the driver since I wasn't fully comfortable with an Uber to the airport (about a 40 minute ride in traffic). Overall this is a very good place.

“Lovely located”

With Sheraton you can't be wrong and this one is like the other, nice, clean, well located. From the hotel you can easily discover the old city by foot. Great for travellers. A taxi stand is very close too.

I had seen while booking that my last day would be the last day that the hotel would be a Marriott but it seemed it would close overall. They acted like a hotel that was closing, in the lazy sense. The check-in was fine. I got an upgrade to a larger room with my Gold status and my room was ready when I arrived just after 11 am so they let me in early. That was the high point of my stay. I get to my room and find a dry greenish stain on the blanket. I really didn't want to call housekeeping to complain but I figured I'd give the hotel a chance to rectify it. They did. They offered to change my room but I didn't know if I would end up losing the upgraded room so I just asked that they change the blanket. Housekeeping came in a few minutes later and replaced the bedding. I go out for lunch, come back, then go out again for a walking tour. I was slightly hungry but more so craving a beer. I saw pictures of Uruguay's local craft beers in the lobby and the coasters in bathroom praised it as the best brews. But alas they had no beers available during the last two days. I ordered room service and they had meat and chicken empanadas on the menu but when I called, they only had chicken left. I wasn't in the mood so I ordered flan. About 10 minutes later, I get a call saying they no longer have flan. I just said forget it. I don't want anything. The doorknob had a hanging paper for you to supposedly order breakfast. I definitely put it there before the 11 pm deadline because I went to bed before 11. But when I woke up in the morning and checked the door, the paper was still there. I called room service to ask if that was normal and they said no. So they took my order, and it arrived in less than 10 minutes. I don't know if this poor experience had to do with the closing or if it's usual practices of the hotel but I'm never booking a hotel again that is closing or changing management the week of my stay.
