Arrived at the property last night courtesy of flight cancellation from JFK to MCO by Delta. Delta picked the hotel and paid the bill. That being said, water pressure in Room 131 is so low, it takes about 4 times as long to take a shower. The in room coffee maker doesn't operate correctly, it is broken. You have to hold parts together with your hand to make it work. The staff is very nice. Dinner was fine with wine, but you are paying NYC prices. Compared to say a typical European hotel, the prices here about 2x-3x higher and overall quality is less.

“The Best of the Worst?”

I don't mean to disparage many kind and admirable employees at this hotel. Our van drivers, both at night and in the morning were truly professional. Housekeeping keeps the rooms spotless and we have always enjoyed the personable wait staff. The front desk seemed more alert and professional than at the time of my last review two and a half years ago. But the fact is we have tried ALL the tired hotels in the vicinity of JFK and none of them merit more than marginal brand loyalty. The room rehab here seems to have gone fairly well. Our room happened to be a handicapped room, and I don't mean just for handicapped people. In the morning, I walked into the shower, put shampoo on my head and discovered that one of the two dials was loose and you could not get hot water. A cold water shower after a 22 hour international day is not welcome. I reported the problem at checkout, and am not entirely sure the "front desk" would take care of it. No apology was given either. I have read recent negative comments about "the Bistro", a hardly appropriate name for a makeshift dining area on the ground floor. In the past we chose the Crowne Plaza because their downstairs restaurant produced fairly decent food for an airport hotel. Bringing "Butler Hospitality" on board suggests the restaurant component was in distress. We had two meals with Crowne Plaza on this trip. A very early dinner (5:45 PM), as we were still on European time, and breakfast. The very limited Bistro menu had three main courses, and they were out of one of them! Fortunately the Salmon was fairly decent. At breakfast, we should have had the made to order dishes, which have always been respectable. While the buffet had decent coffee, the "vending machine" plastic wrapped pastries, and the steam table scrambled eggs were two star basic and have no place in a Crowne Plaza level hotel. Marriott has two new hotels coming to JFK that are already a year behind schedule. Crowne Plaza and its neighbors had better up their game. We are back at JFK in about six weeks, and frankly I am not sure at which hotel to stay. They have all disappointed us regularly.

Spent the night here compliments of Delta. Our room was comfortable but traffic (4 lane highway outside) was intense. The K coffee maker didn't work and we had to leave before breakfast. The dinner at their restaurant was overly priced and almost inedible. Do not patronize if possible. The shuttle from airport was okay then the same guy took us at 4:45 back. He was friendlier then. I would never wittingly choose here but we managed.
