Service was outstanding. Very comfortable bed. A small room - but normal for NYC standards. Complimentary water. No on-site parking, but there is a parking garage right across the street. Convenient to the Canal Street subway station, which connects to a number of subway lines. Marriott Bonvoy members get late checkout. One very minor hiccup - front desk told me about the breakfast hours, without telling me that there was a charge for breakfast.

“Beginning to slip?”

We have stayed here dozens of times, and although this is far from a luxury property, the staff has always made up for any small shortcomings. We have stayed here dozens of times, and although this is far from a luxury property, the staff has always made up for any small shortcomings. The staff is still fine, but the shortcomings are showing. We had a fine room with an ESB view. We asked for breakfast downstairs for our 4 night stay instead of the “points” most folks take. Front desk tried to dissuade us, they “don’t really do this”, but Bonvoy rules require it, and they had vouchers, so . . . The restaurant has a special Voucher menu, which confirmed this is a valid option. Last time we visited, just over a year ago, the pre were six or seven flexible options. Now there were four, and the only relatively healthy one, a fruit and yogurt parfait, was not available one day as they were out of most of the fruit. We did figure out a way to cobble this together but there is a bodega next door. PLEASE empower staff to take $20 and buy some fruit for your limited options. Room was fine, they are cleaning daily, which is nice. We planned poorly for having money to tip the cleaner, asked if the desk could make change , the first agent said “I have no change, go next door (the bodega!) or ask the restaurant”. Luckily, the other agent overheard and came over and found plenty of smaller bills for us from the first agents desk. If you don’t WANT to help, then just say so. And we all know how happy the bodega would be to make change! Btw, the server in the restaurant didn’t have change, either. Club lounge is still great, although the daily morning and evening options have been reduced and don’t change from day to day. Never seen thinner bacon in my life!

“Musty room and lots of honking (busy street)”

I stayed in a standard King room and the room was rather musty, like from the old carpets, and there was fair amount of honking and traffic noise because the hotel is on a busy street close to some major intersections. The window opened a bit, but then the traffic noise was pretty intense.
