The stay was nice. Since we wanted to meet Brazilians to share the trip to the Port for our cruse, there was no facilities form the hotel desk. We knew there were several Brazilians for the same cruse in the Mediterranean...
The hotel is three blocks from Termini train station, two blocks from the City Site seeing Tour Bus stop, therefore, close to everything. If you like to walk, like we do, it is super centrally located. We walked to la Via del Corso, la Bia Veneto, etc. the staff is great, the rooms are clean. I enjoyed my stay very much.
Location excellent. Staff more than helpful. Decor needs a bit of attention! Rooms adequate and we only used them as a base for somewhere to rest and sleep. Breakfast of croissants and continental meat/cheese if so desired. Coffee not hot enough on day 3, but better on day 4. Lots of trattorias nearby for eating in the evening. Lift a little slow but at least there is one. All in all a very good base for exploring The Eternal City.
Spent a week towards the end of the season at this hotel (which is probably why the decor needed a little tlc). The hotel is situated mid way along a side street a stones throw from Termini so the location is convenient for access to transport or walking to the major sites. Via Massimo d'Azeglio is poorly maintained and badly lit, but to be fair that goes for most Roman side streets. There are plenty of cafes/restaurants nearby. We opted for b&b so were able to fill up on the hotel breakfast - self service, but eat as much as you like. Rooms were fine, but I have echo other reviewers in pointing out that the beds were quite hard (is this an Italian thing?). Staff were friendly and helpful when approached (although the hotel bar opening rimes were dictated by there availability). For those not inclined to climb the stairs be warned that there is only one very small lift for guests that is restricted to three persons at any one time! Due to the trip advisor rating system I have to chose between 'average' or 'very good', to be absolutely fair I rate this hotel between the two at good.
This wasn't the hotel we originally chose but our travel agent stopped working with our original choice and moved our booking here, it was in the same area so didn't see a problem - until we arrived. The lift is extremely rickety and slow, we only used it when we took our luggage up to the room, it felt as if it could break down at any time. There were holes in the floorboards and curtains. The bathroom window had no blinds or curtains. The room we booked should have had a bath tub as stated on the website - no bathtub was found in our room. Our bathroom was infested with ants so we had to change room, our new room didn't have a bathtub either and had broken - smashed and dangerous looking - plug sockets, we also went an entire night without hot water so had to take cold showers the night before our early morning flight home. Staff were very unhelpful and stated the hot water would be back in "20min", we waited three hours, heading back down to the front desk every 30min or so along with other guests to be told once again "20min". We complained to our travel agent throughout the holiday and on our check out date they sent an agent to check out the two rooms we'd stayed in. The hotel was so bad our travel agent has actually given us compensation.
