Marvel at the contrasts between one of the most modern cities and one of the most traditional islands of the truly alluring Southeast Asia

The ever exotic and mysterious Southeast Asia is home to a multitude of fascinating tourist destinations. Two of them are Singapore and Indonesia, attractive and fabulous countries in this picturesque region of the globe. The first part of this trip to these distant lands takes place in the Republic of Singapore, one of the world's leading metropolises and a global trade hub. No real surprise, then, that this modern and prosperous city-state - independent from Malaysia since 1965 - has the third highest per capita income in the world, which has resulted in a cityscape dominated by ultra-modern skyscrapers, an underground system that's the envy of the world, huge shopping centres and a lively nightlife. However, Singapore doesn't turn its back on its ancient past or its historical Chinese, Muslim, Malaysian and Indian influences, which are reflected in its excellent and varied cuisine, as well as its colourful neighbourhoods such as Chinatown, Little India or Arab Street. Must-visits include Orchard Road, a shopping heaven; Sentosa, a pocket-sized island accessed by cable car or road; the National Orchid Garden, a must for nature lovers; Singapore Zoo, with its night safari; and the Merlion Statue, one of city's symbols and which stands on the river that runs through Singapore. The next part of the trip is just as fascinating, as the island of Bali is another outstanding destination with a host of attractions that intersperse its ancient culture with heavenly beaches. Proving the first case is the town of Ubud, famous for its arts scene that includes dance, sculpture and painting. This idyllic Balinese town focuses its tourism industry on culture, yoga, health and nature, as it's nestled in a stunning landscape of forests and rivers, benefiting from a more pleasant temperature than other destinations in the area. Its main attractions include the Puri Saren Agung Palace, home of the last king of Ubud, and the so-called Jalan Monkey Forest, a sacred nature reserve. In the second case, we can highlight the spectacular picture-postcard beaches located in the south of the island, with dazzling white sands, in contrast to those of the north, which are black sand.Unwinding in the resorts of Kuta, Jimbaran or Sanur, south of the capital city Denpasar, is an experience you'll never forget... like the rest of this wonderful adventure.
